Welcome to the year 2402! U.S.S. Coronado, like all UCIP sims, takes place approximately 25 years after the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine®. U.S.S. Voyager has long since returned home, bringing a bounty of new information and technology with her. Most of the figures from the three modern Trek series have moved on with their lives, or have moved on to the next. A few are still in Starfleet; perhaps you'll meet them one day! Meanwhile, unlike other UCIP sims, Coronado does not operate in the Milky Way galaxy. Like Voyager once was, we and more than a dozen other ships are trapped far from home, in galaxy M64, more than nineteen million light-years from Earth.

Unlike Voyager, we cannot simply set a course for home with the hope of making it decades from now. Even the fastest drives, operated continuously, would take more than 500 years to get the ships of Task Group 5.4 home... we have no choice but to explore our new home and look for other ways back. Or perhaps, we will have to accept that we are forever trapped millions of light-years from everything we know, and we'll have to build a new home for ourselves here...

In addition, the Coronado sim has been running long enough that if you haven't been a member of the crew since the beginning, you might sometimes feel left out if regulars start discussing past sims. In addition, you might not know very much about Coronado's mission as a starship and a part of Starfleet. Perhaps you're not even a serious Star Trek fan, but just a casual watcher of the show... but you'd still like to sim. This section of the website can teach you about the galaxy that Coronado operates in and the technology we use. The whole "environment" of Star Trek and UCIP is detailed here!

You can review the following Coronado-related reference material here:

  • Orders: The rules and regulations of the Federation and Starfleet are an important aspect of our sims. From here, you can review the major ones, including the Federation's Prime Non-Interference Directive, and relevant Starfleet General Orders and Regulations. Also includes Coronado's major operational orders.

  • Milky Way: Coronado is trapped millions of light-years from home, but the Milky Way Galaxy is still an important place to us. From here, you can review the different races that make up the Star Trek universe of the Milky Way of 2401, including brief cultural and technology information on each of the major starfaring races, friendly, hostile, and neutral. You can also review the current political state of the galaxy.

  • Task Group 5.4: In April 2401, U.S.S. Coronado and a dozen other ships of Starfleet's Fifth Fleet were trapped in the galaxy known in the Milky Way as M64. From here, you can read about each ship in the isolated task group, their commanding officers, and their specialties and importance in this new galaxy...

  • Starfleet: Coronado is only one ship in Starfleet -- there are more than 20,000 others! From front-line combatants and exploratory ships such as Galaxy and Sovereign class Explorers, to the warhorses of Starfleet such as the Defiant and Odin classes, to the latest designs, most important Starfleet ships are detailed here!

  • Marines: As one of the few full-time Marine carriers in Starfleet, Coronado carries forward a long naval history. Few indeed are those ships proud enough to carry the Starfleet Marine Corps -- learn about Coro's SFMC contingent, their equipment, tactics, and organization!

  • Technology: If you're not familiar with the technology of Star Trek, this section is a brief encyclopedia of the major pieces of technology Starfleet officers use to do their jobs. From tricorders and transporters, to phasers and communicators, they're described here... Changes in technology since 2374 are also documented!

  • Uniforms: Finally, it is usually much easier to imagine yourself aboard Coronado if you can see the uniforms we wear. This file details the major uniform types for active Starfleet officers, crewmen, and cadets, both informal and formal.

By selecting one of the items on the left side of the screen, you can access the information referenced above. If you're interested in joining the crew of U.S.S. Coronado, you are strongly encouraged to review this material, and be familiar with it, along with the ship's specifications, officer bios, and recent news and information.

Once you're done here, tap the Return key at the bottom of your PADD, and you will be returned to the index.
