There are some for whom U.S.S. Coronado ceases to be a starship, and becomes a family.
These special few preserve and defend the reputation of their ship and her crew with their lives
and their honor. They become members of the Coronado family through their discipline,
devotion, and dedication to the principles upon which Coro was founded. They hold names
that those who step aboard her decks later learn, either through the telling of favored stories...
or learning of their heroic sacrifice.For these few alone, there is a special honor.
The Defenders of Coronado are listed in order of "ranking," which may change from month to month. Ranking is based on a point scale, where a typical Coronado simmer will earn between 0 and 3 points per week. Where multiple characters are listed, each of the listed characters, whether active or not, have qualified for the Defenders recognition. The nicknames of active simmers are highlighted in blue -- if their current characters have qualified for this recognition, this character will be listed first. Nicknames not highlighted represent simmers without active characters. Many of the listed characters held many positions aboard Coronado over the course of their careers. In each case, the listed position is the one that character is most famous for or held for the longest period.

A sword hangs in the Captain's Ready Room. Passed from generation to generation of Coronado's
Commanding Officers, this is the Sword of Jacob of Arnath, one of the fabled Paladins of Charlemange.
1500 years old, The Sword has been tried, tested, and never found wanting against any challenge.
So also is it with those who pledge their lives and honor to the defense of Coronado. These
officers are inducted into the Order of the Defenders of Coronado. Those recognized with this
honor -- commemorated with a ribbon and a replica of the Sword -- are Coro's most dedicated
officers and crew... those who have become part of our family. Below, you can meet them.
