| Overview and History |
| The Erinyes gear is an attempt by Roland to produce an almagamation of
the various gears he's piloted over his years in the military, namely
recon, stealth, and dueling chassis.
Using the highly lethal Nemesis Jaguar as its base, Erinyes (Greek - "the Furies") builds upon the standard base of dueling systems in the acrobatic maneuvering and advanced controls with standard Dark Gear equipment such as the rugged movement system, HEP:all protection, and Limited Life Support for extended hostile environment missions. Camo netting replaces some of the Stealth system in anticipation of deployment on Caprice. Sensors and Communications gear are upgraded heavily from the base systems in order to provide BT05 the necessary early-warning alerts and give the team excess time to plan assaults and ambushes. An telescoping tool arm was mounted on the gear, fitted with a standard optics suite for surveillance under cover, and a target designator to provide painting for air support and guided weapons carried by the Talon team, notably heavy guided mortars and anti-gear/anti-ground missiles. The primary weapon comes in the form of a long-barrel heavy rifle with enhanced sniper system, quite fitting with Roland's small arm's roots with long range rifle weaponry. Antipersonnel defense comes in the form of a mortar, while a vibrorapier and chassis reinforcement provide for close range support. Roland is particularly fond of the vibrorapier, and relishes in taking the opportunity to selectively take apart enemy machines system by system with pinpoint strikes. Though not carrying any heavy support weapons, Roland has developed a unique use for a standard light anti-aircraft cannon. Twitching his control stick quickly and accurately over multiple, clustered targets, he can use the multibarrel, rapid cycling weapon mounted over Erinyes' light shoulder to fill a target area with enough rounds to impact them all at one time. This was previously accomplished in a similar fashion with a VLRP/128, but ammo, accuracy, and range concerns led Roland to replace the rocket pack with a more conventional round weapon. Roland's NNet, Archimedes, is relatively new at 2 cycles. His previous AI, Persephone, 10 cycles old at the time, was suspiciously wiped during a routine transfer from a Gear into storage while Roland was undertaking a lengthy covert mission. The circumstances surrounding the wipe remain to this day unexplained. The young net is reasonably clean, however, has picked up on some of Roland's more covert tendencies, and likes to remain in shadow. |
