Designer Notes
The Purple People Eater is in nearly all respects a standard dueling and racing Iguana. His weapons are of the most basic type. The Deployable Pack Gun is the basic automatic weapon used by dueling and racing Gears: it is light-weight with decent range and damage. You're also carrying hand grenades and a vibroblade for close-range defense. Finally, you also carry the standard Iguana Light Rocket Pack for heavier punch.

Your speed is standard Iguana speed: 84 kilometers per hour on clear ground. This is fast, but there are definitely faster Gears in the race, so you should expect to fall behind. Your jump jets can add to your speed in two ways: first, the direct jump adds distance and therefore speed; and second, you can fly over obstacles that other Gears will have to slow down for.

The most unusual thing about the Purple People Eater are jump rockets mounted into the shoulder harnesses on either side of the main engine. This allows you to jump over many obstacles, though you have to choose whether to use the jets or your weapons -- you cannot do both in the same turn.

Purple People Eater has no major weaknesses and other than the jump jets, also carries heavier armor fore and aft as well as reinforced knee and ankle actuators to handle the stress of jump jet landings.
