| Post: | Chief Helm Officer U.S.S. Cortez, NCC-45828 |
||
| Species: | Human Male | ||
| Birthplace: | S.S. Dancer, between DS8 and Sol | ||
| Age: | 29 | ||
| |
|||
| Physical characteristics: | |||
| Height/Weight: | 1.74 meters / 73 kilograms | ||
| Hair/Eyes: | Red-Blonde / Green | ||
| Description: | Physically, Wallace is a bit shorter than average, thin, and somewhat gangly. He does possess an incredible quickness in virtually everything he does, from typing 180 words per minute to his ability to run 100 meters in just under 11 seconds. His hair, while very short in back, is constantly flirting with regulation length in front. This, along with his almost constant smile, gives him an extremely friendly, informal appearance. | ||
| Notes: | Not surprisingly, Wallace was a hyperactive child, and retains some of these qualities into adulthood. He speaks with a Scots accent, a legacy of his paternal grandfather, who raised him. | ||
| |
|||
| Personality characteristics: | |||
| Marital status: | Single, Never Been Married | ||
| Family: | Father: Retired Starfleet Lt. Commander William Wallace (Deceased); Mother: Dr. Teresa Aldur, formerly of the Daystrom Institute (Deceased); No siblings | ||
| Dominants: | Confident, highly intelligent, irreverant, humorous | ||
| Notes: | The combination of his hyperactive tendencies and familiarity with computers has left Wallace as somewhat of an informal soul. He is incredibly friendly to everyone, and usually disdains rank unless the person he is speaking to is at least two ranks higher than he is. Around serious people, he gets nervous, but around virtually everyone else, he is smiling, chipper, and relaxed. The one exception to this rule are Vulcans, who fascinate Wallace. He is also known to talk to "da'" -- his deceased grandfather -- when under stress or excited. | ||
| Interests: | Wallace is interested in virtually every aspect of computer and cybernetics technology. He can often be found on the holodeck, writing new simulations or enhancing the simulated environments and characters. He is quite eager to please in this, and will create incredibly elaborate holodeck programs for anyone who asks it of him. From time to time, he can also be found in the cybernetics lab, either modifying Cat or working on other related projects. | ||

| Personal History: | |||
| Family history: | Wallace comes from an extremely well-off family, especially on his father's side. While his mother was a scientist at the Daystrom Institute, his father was a bit of a gadabout, trader, and inventor. His parents, in fact, were the developers of the advanced warp field equations that Starfleet uses to this day. The unusual thing about this invention was that Wallace's father traded it to Starfleet for building materials and other considerations. Wallace's grandfather was even more prolific, producing five major power system designs used in Starfleet vessels and stations over his career. | ||
| Early life: | Born aboard the S.S. Dancer, one of the Wallace family's four transport ships, Wallace's early history is one of tragedy. Not long after his birth, the Dancer was reported missing, with both of his parents on board. To this day, the fate of the transport is not known, and it is presumed destroyed. Wallace was raised by his paternal grandfather, Thomas, in one of the smaller townships south of Edinburgh, Scotland, on Earth. The extremely traditional Scots education provided by his grandfather was extremely eclectic: Wallace learned everything from Latin to quantum physics under his "da's" tuteledge. | ||
| Cat: | Because the younger Wallace showed a very early predisposition toward mathematics and engineering, the elder provided him with an impressive laboratory along these lines and encouraged William to experiment. When Wallace turned 16, the laboratory was expanded to include full cybernetics capability, and very soon after this, Cat was born.
In Cat's belly section is a hidden port capable of accomodating an isolinear rod and a recharging port. A subspace transceiver and locator is hidden in the tip of his tail, and allows Cat to communicate with other tricorders or computers. Cat also contains a subcutaneous transponder and communicator, as well as several saurim krellide power cells. Cat is often the only piece of "equipment" that Wallace carries with him on Away missions, along with a PADD to receive Cat's tricorder output.
Cat's programming is similar in nature to a Soong-type android, but not nearly as complex. Wallace chose the mannerisms of a cat for its programming because his own family pet cat was lost with his mother and father aboard Dancer. Cat has been active for approximately 10 years now, and is slowly developing in both his cat "imitation" and unique personality.
|
||
| Early twenties: | Wallace probably would have been content to continue to experiment, attend ever-more-advanced universities, and market Cat to Starfleet, if not for the loss of his parents. The fact that it still isn't known what happened to them gnaws at Wallace, and makes him hopeful that one day, he will rise high enough in the 'fleet to either conduct a more specific search for them or to pick up more clues as to what happened to Dancer. The death of his grandfather left him very little reason to remain on Earth, despite the fact that he was the sole benefactor of the Wallace family fortune. | ||
