| Post: | Former Chief Science Officer U.S.S. Aurora, NCC-74988-A |
||
| Species: | Betazoid Male | ||
| Birthplace: | Al'tla Province, Betazed | ||
| Age: | 33 | ||
| Status: | Missing in Action, Status UNKNOWN | ||
| |
|||
| Physical characteristics: | |||
| Height/Weight: | 1.80 meters / 85 kilograms | ||
| Hair/Eyes: | Grey-white / Blue | ||
| Description: | Physically, Smythe is a bit taller than average, and muscular. He is a bit overweight, but has been burning that weight off in his latest assignment. His facial features are squared off and a bit intimidating to those who do not know him. His hair is greying prematurely, and he keeps it very short. His most obvious characteristic, though, is a pair of ancient spectacles that he wears to correct his poor natural vision -- Smythe is allergic to the two possible compounds that could correct his vision. | ||
| Notes: | Smythe possesses the standard Betazoid psionic abilities, at an average strength level. Without his spectacles, Smythe is extremely near-sighted. Being without them will not impair his ability to operate a console, but will impair his ability to view objects at long distances. | ||
| |
|||
| Personality characteristics: | |||
| Marital status: | Married; Wife: Capt. Aeriel Collum-Peers, U.S.S. Aurora | ||
| Family: | Father: Dr. Ian Brian Smythe, M.D.; Mother: Starfleet Cmdr. Andra Smythe (deceased); No siblings | ||
| Dominants: | Shy, efficient, eager-to-please | ||
| Notes: | Smythe is a rather atypical Betazoid -- more comfortable around computers than people, he uses his telepathic skills only rarely, and then only when under great stress. He is, however, honest almost to a fault with people he knows well; among strangers however, Smythe is extremely diplomatic, though still honest. Smythe joined Starfleet to honor his mother's memory, who was killed in the recent conflict with the Cardassians. Smythe is a borderline pacifist except when it comes to Cardassians, for whom he has a savage hatred. | ||
| Interests: | Smythe can often be found on the holodeck, writing new simulations or enhancing the simulated environments and characters. He is quite eager to please in this, and will create incredibly elaborate holodeck programs for anyone who asks it of him. He is also trying to invent a next-generation duotronic circuit, so far without success. | ||

| Performance Evaluations: | |||
| Stardate 49618.3: | CO: Captain Jonah Barret, CO, U.S.S. Renegade: Rating: Superior. Ens. Smythe has proved himself to be an outstanding potential Starfleet officer, and has performed his duties with distinction while aboard this vessel. Smythe's main challenge in advancement in his Starfleet career, however, will be his tendency to be far too... honest with the personnel under his command. Hopefully, he will eventually find that a soft touch when dealing with subordinates is often the best approach. | ||
| Stardate 49709.0: | CO: Captain John Edward Snyder, CO, U.S.S. Aurora: Rating: Superior. No additional comments. Additional notes: Captain Snyder resigned Starfleet on Stardate 49709.0, concurrently with Lt. Smythe's transfer from the Aurora. No conclusion should be drawn from Captain Snyder's lack of commentary. -- Adm. T. Harris, DS12 | ||
