Physical characteristics:
Height/Weight:2.00 meters / 109 kilograms

Description:Ka'Tek of the House of Kharas is tall, muscular, and extremely imposing. His dark eyes reveal a calm intelligence, and his dark skin, facial structure, and cranial ridge speak of untainted Imperial bloodlines stretching back centuries. He wears his hair and beard somewhat shorter than the Klingon norm, and has been called handsome by even human women.
Notes:As an Imperial Klingon, Ka'Tek has an extremely complex physiology centered on redundancies of critical body functions (brak'lul). Only a doctor qualified in Imperial Klingon physiology can treat him effectively.

Personality characteristics:
Marital status:Married; Wife: Kehylan
Family:Father: Naq, Son of Na'Tek; Mother: K'Lera; Siblings: 3 younger brothers
Dominants:Intelligent, serene, honorable, somewhat arrogant
Notes:As a member of one of the oldest Houses in the Empire, Ka'Tek is somewhat arrogant, extremely intelligent, and secure in his knowledge of his position. He is unshakable in his belief in Klingon superiority, and his own abilities. However, he has been around Federation members long enough to act with an almost serene diplomacy and tact. He is very friendly and polite when needed, and either lacks or has complete control of the typical Klingon temper.
Interests:Ka'Tek is a first-rate military historian, as well as a master tactician. He is a master or a grandmaster in strategy games from a dozen worlds, including chess, 3-D chess, klin zha, Parrises Squares, and strategema.

Background:
Summary:Ka'Tek is one of the success stories of the Federation Officer Exchange Program. Respected in both Starfleet and the Empire, Ka'Tek is both extremely intelligent, and extremely savvy of the political and cultural landscapes on both sides of the OEP. His posting to the Fearless is his second OEP assignment -- most recently, he served as a Marine Platoon Commander aboard U.S.S. Renegade, NCC-63102, where he earned high marks from both Exploration and Marine personnel aboard that ship.

The House of Kharas is one of the oldest and most honored Houses in the Klingon Empire, and can trace its ancestors back almost one thousand years, to the original Kharas, who was one of Kahless' closest advisors. Over those thousand years, there has been a combined total of fifty that didn't see a member of this House either leading, or holding a place on the High Council. The House of Kharas has high hopes that Ka'Tek will be a future member of the Council... thus, his entry in the OEP is valuable to both the Empire and the Federation. For the Empire, Ka'Tek's place in Starfleet allows him a close look at the internal workings of the Federation. For our side, Ka'Tek's presense allows the Federation to evaluate and possibly influence a major player in future Klingon politics.

Very little is known about Ka'Tek's service in the Klingon Defense Force, other than the fact he served on several posts, and is held in high regard by KDF members. It is known that his most recent position was that of Tactical Officer aboard the I.K.V. Bortas, a Vor'cha class battlecruiser. Ka'Tek's presense aboard that vessel might explain the high success rate this vessel had in combat versus Federation ships in the recent skirmishes. Ka'Tek has an intuitive understanding of Federation tactics and strategy.

Status update: Most recently, Ka'Tek had been in command of the I.K.V. D'k Tagh, a B'rel class Bird of Prey. While acting as a scout and observer for the Ninth Fleet on a classified mission, Ka'Tek's ship was cut off from the remainder of the fleet and captured. Ka'Tek and the bulk of his crew spent six months in a Dominion prison camp in the Valo sector. Some members of the crew were permitted to commit suicide; the remainder, including Ka'Tek, were forced to do battle with Jem'Hadar soldiers in training in the camp.

It is assumed that Ka'Tek bears numerous scars from his experiences at the hands of the Dominion. However, it is not the way of Klingons to speak of such things, and Ka'Tek refuses to discuss what happened to him in Valo sector. He bears significant physical scars and evidence of massive trauma from his time there, but again, refuses to divulge how he came by those scars. It is assumed that they were gained as part of the daily fighting in the camp -- several of Ka'Tek's bones required rebreaking and resetting upon his return. He also now bears several artificial organs due to incomplete healing of his existing ones.

END REPORT.
