"Iteration 12 situation report.
"Iteration 12 was interrupted before I could really even get going,
thanks to the interference of a Reorsan starship, U.S.S. Coronado.
Coronado entered the Saris system at high velocity -- chasing my ship,
if truth be told -- and was almost immediately detected by forces loyal
to the Sarisian planetary government. This, despite the fact that
Coronado left the system almost immediately after finding they could not
detect my ship. However, Sarisian technology was more than sufficient
to get quite good imagery of Coronado before the latter left the system.
"The Sarisian government, of course, attributed the sighting to the
renegade General Thosis, believing the Reorsan starship to be a 'secret
weapon' developed by Thosis. The government demanded the return of
Coronado to the system, threatening to destroy a colony inhabited by
known sympathizers to the Thosis cause.
"At this point, I decided the iteration was hopelessly corrupted and
considered it unlikely that I would be able to negotiate a settlement
between the warring factions. The Sarisian government is paranoid
enough as it is without the interference of a completely rogue element
like a Reorsan starship. Rather than waste time on what was likely to
be an impossible diplomatic situation, I elected to disregard the
results of iteration 12 and begin iteration 13.
"I also instructed the Reorsan starship not to interfere further. I can
only hope that they do so.
"Situation report ends."
