Notes from the Captain:
Alright, very nice sim everyone...this sim report is a bit late..even by
previous Coro Sim Report standards and I am sorry for that. I'll try to
get these out a bit closer to "mid week" next time. Although, the next
two reports will not be done by me....or own Aggie will be doing them as
part of his Command course qualification. So complain to him if the
next two are this late. Have a good night and I will see you all
Monday for our next sim! ;-)
Also, MARCY...if you're out there...blow green smoke man, we'll bring
you in. Where the heck are you?!
Sim Title: "Renegotiator", (Episode 715) Part One
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
A log entry of sorts from the unknown occupant of the ship observed
leaving the anomaly by USS Coronado. The man explains his unhappiness
at Coronado's unbridled pursuit of his vessel leading to a problem with
the Sarisian government. The man explains that the locals mistook
Coronado's presence in their space as a threat from a renegade General
Thosis whom seems to be an enemy of theirs of some sort. The log entry
goes on to explain that the man had no choice but to deem the
"iteration" hopelessly corrupt and to begin the next iteration. He
warns Coronado personally, hoping that next time they will keep their
curiosity at bay.
During the Sim:
---------------
The swept winged vessel again makes its emergence from the local anomaly
as scheduled and quickly leaves. Captain Daren decides to heed the
warning set forth by this apparent visitor that has the ability to look
the thread at will, and not begin physical pursuit. Rather he orders
long range sensors follow this ship for as long as they can and then
returns to the mission and investiation at hand.
In the CIC, Commodore Drexler contacts Admiral Lora Kor to brief him on
what has just happened only to learn that, while the entire ship seems
to recall the events before they were looped, the Flag Commander does
not. Not all things seem to be exactly the same in this new iteration.
It quickly becomes apparent that the distortion fields negating the
effects of so-called Watcher technology have expanded dramatically.
When the thread is looped, Coronado finds that she is actually inside
one such distortion again. The ship, in danger of losing it's ansible,
quickly exits the expanded distortion and set their focus on attempting
to gain a greater understanding of the local anomaly.
This time it seems it is the Admiral that wants more information as to
what the unidentified ship is doing in the target system, he speculates
initiating a LORASON pulse to peek in at the inhabitants. This is never
acted on however for fear that if the pulse were detected, it could loop
up back to where we started again. The bridge is content to ignore the
mysterious vessel and it's even more mysterious mission to the nearby
star system. They prepare a probe to study the intricacies of the
anomaly, while the CIC decides to "listen in" on subspace transmissions
coming from the unknown system.
The probe causes an intense disruption within the anomaly when it comes
in contact with the event horizon. This sets off a shockwave that hits
Coronado broadside. The reaction to the probe seems to make the
distortion fields expand briefly before returning to their size before
the disruption. Meanwhile, in the CIC the listening campaign continues
as they begin to hear what sounds like a political propaganda movement.
The name Thosis is featured fairly regularly on the Sarisian subspace
network as someone that attempted a revolution which partially
succeeded. The transmissions seem to be aimed at trying to convince
Thosian collaborators to return to old loyalties.
Frustrated that they aren't getting much from the probe scans, and that
the Captain seems adamant to refuse usage of the higher resolution
LORASON sensors, Commander Tal and Brooks ready a second probe. This
time ordering Coro on its way to the outskirts of the system before
attempting it again. The plan fails however as the anomaly again reacts
with a shockwave and the ship is again rocked, more violently this time.
Soon the ship regains it's space legs and the sensors begin homing in on
a contact proceeding toward Coronado's position at slipstream velocity
being fired upon by a pursuing vessel. When the sensors focus, they
show that the vessel on the run is the mysterious swept winged vessel
from the anomaly and the pursuing ships appear to be offended locals.
The Admiral attempts to contact the ship to see if it would like to
request assistance as the vessels drop out of slipstream inside one of
the distortion fields. The larger, more primitive vessel does not let
up its attack and continues to fire it's antimatter weaponry.
The vessel makes a quick dash for the anomaly, the crew feels a brief
moment of Deja Vu, and events of the past hour are quickly reset....
again.
