Notes from the Captain:
Well welcome to the first sim of 2004 and my official debut as your new
"Sim Report Guy". From here to the end I'll be taking care of the sim
reports for Jester as he uses his time for more fun things like getting
set up for the fantasy sim that will follow Coro, and I know how much
we are all anticipating that one.
Also, welcome back from the Holiday season. I hope everyone had a great
time with family and friends. Things will be returning to normal now
and that goes for repealing the holiday "announced absence" rule.
Please be sure you let someone on the Command Staff know if you won't be
able to make it to a particular sim.
I'll shut up now and let you go through the sim report with the hope
that you don't find too many things wrong with it. ;-)
Sim Title: "The Last Patrol" (Episode 714), Part Three
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
The CIC is the prime location to view the first data from the mapping
patrols filling in many of the region's holes coming back to the ship.
An odd formation is depicted on the main holodisplay made of several
systems and their energy signatures. It quickly becomes apparent that
the region being mapped and the recent activity by Xanadu in J043 is
very likely linked. The likelihood of another temporal anomaly forming
right here is very probable, and may go towards explaining the
mysterious reason why The Watchers influence is distorted in parts of
this system.
During the Sim:
---------------
Events open quietly enough with the Spectres continuing their mapping of
the region. The entire ship, especially those with a keen sense of the
Scientific are busy studying the incoming data. The ship is brought a
bit closer to the subspace anomaly for more detailed scans. The Admiral
seeks solace in his quarters, attempting to relax while General Ironside
is working in his office. Seemingly two very distinct events, they are
brought together strangely enough when a cookie and tea sitting on the
floor besides the Admiral appears on Ironside's desk just underneath his
hand.
On the bridge, Commander Tal and Brooks begin to devise a plan aimed at
attempting to find a concrete explanation as to the source of these
distortion fields. Tal suggests that they take the ship within one of
the fields again in order to do this. After some study of how the
distortion fields slowly degrade the "Watcher" technology on the ship
as previously encountered, it is believed that the ship could remain
inside one of these fields for at least two hours before experiencing
total loss of these technologies. Satisfied with the answer, Captain
Daren decided to approve the plan, but it is quickly interrupted when
something mysterious emerges from the distortion.
The object, an very interesting looking vessel moves very quickly out of
the system. Coronado can't keep the ship on sensors for long and is
left with only sketchy scans of it. In a gut reaction, the Captain
orders sensor pursuit of the vessel in order to track its destination.
Speculation is rampant as Savant believes the vessels design to be
futuristic Reorsan and General Ironside draws the similarities between
the mystery vessel and a Romulan Valdore.
When it seems certain that the pursuit is futile and that better scans
won't be rewarding at the speeds they are traveling, the pursuit is
halted. This decision comes just as the vessel cloaks near an uncharted
star system and is gone from the display. Rater then continuing on to
the system, the Captain orders a scan and return to the previous point
of study. The system contains two distinct class M worlds. There is
indications of subspace communications on the planets, but not between
them. Sensors also identify False Matter energy signatures in the
system and four ships that have picked up Coronado's presence and begin
following her back. The ships hail, with at first very garbled voices
with static and later communicate clearly once patched through the
ansible:
"...so this is the secret weapon you've been working on, Thosis? You
might think that we didn't see you, but we did. You will return to the
system at once, with weapons powered down, or we will destroy colony
925 and all inhabitants. This is your final warning."
