Sim Title: "Effect and Cause", Part 4
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Specialist/1 Kira Burt, one of the members of NCC-2725's crew, is
enjoying a brief moment of relaxation before sleep when she spots an
approaching Klingon destroyer come to investigate Coronado's
situation.
During the Sim:
---------------
With the cease fire apparently holding, Coronado's personnel,
present and past, turned their attention to the bigger picture: what
caused us to be transported into the Milky Way of the past, and how
do we get back to where we belong? First priority, however, was
given over to a new arrival: a Klingon destroyer apparently
investigating Coronado's status. Initially, it seemed as if the
Klingons were going to get all the reinforcements they needed to
complete the take-over of NCC-2725. However, Rear Admiral Lora Kor
and General Ironside were eventually able to establish
communications with the destroyer after heading down to Deck 5 to
negotiate an unrelated matter. While they did this, Commander
Farley and his team in the frigate's engineering section worked
rapidly to make this Coronado mobile, eventually reestablishing both
warp and impulse power.
The unrelated matter that Ironside and Lora Kor were seeing to was
overall control of the ship: without taking either the Bridge or
Auxilliary Control, it was unlikely that whatever plan was developed
would be something we could carry out. As a result, the two
officers travelled under flag of truce to Deck 5 to negotiate for
the use of Auxilliary Control. They were eventually successful in
this mission; the Admiral later admitted that one of his concessions
was agreeing to transport what portion of the destroyer's crew were
interested in returning to M64. As a result of the agreement,
several dozen more Klingons boarded Coro, but something under two
dozen were taken off: mostly wounded in Sickbay that were not
interested in returning to M64. The destroyer then took charge of
the cargo pods orbiting the planet. Initially, it looked as if
Coronado would have to initiate a slingshot maneuver to set things
right, but eventually, the frigate joined the destroyer in planetary
orbit.
This left one unresolved problem: how to set things right and return
us to M64. Lieutenant D'rall eventually learned that Lieutenant
Valentine was the lynch-pin of this particular "alternate" universe:
it was an event in Valentine's past that caused her not to be aboard
Churchill. Further, it was Valentine's absence on Churchill that
caused the cruiser not to enter M64. Valentine eventually agreed to
send a message to her prior self, some 20 years further in the past.
Commander Tal's team, including Lieutenant Brooks, devised a clever
method for actually transmitting this message. Once the message was
sent, the time line reset itself, resulting in our return to M64.
Lieutenant Valentine had apparently re-taken her proper place in
history. However, we had one surprise waiting for us when we
returned: R.S. Dauntless, believed destroyed in the proper time
line, was on hand to greet the officers aboard shuttlecraft Teresa
on their "return" to the present...

is a blinding flash, and then a sense of deja vu.
