Sim Title: "Effect and Cause", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

A 100-year-old personal log entry, in which Teresa Valentine
expresses her anger and annoyance over what has become of her
Starfleet career, and her current mission: evacuating Klingons from
Qo'nos following the Praxis disaster.
During the Sim:
---------------
A flash of light and a sense of deja vu, and about two dozen members
of Coronado's crew and the Whitestone Admiralty senior officers
found themselves on what appeared to be a near-lifeless planet. The
air was thin and cold and carried only the barest minimum of oxygen
needed to sustain humanoid life, and the planet was without
plant-life more complex than a single-celled, water-borne algae.
The personnel there had very little time to explore the environment
or wonder how they came to be there before three people appeared,
transporting in. Wearing old-style Starfleet uniforms of a type not
seen for several decades, the leader indicated she was Captain
Storsa and commanded the Federation Starship Coronado. The two
others appeared to be her Tactical and Science officers,
respectively. During the initial conversation, we were able to
determine that it is April 2302. This is a problem because in April
2302, the U.S.S. Coronado of that time, while transporting Klingon
refugees from Qo'nos, was overrun and nearly captured by these same
refugees. We seem to have been sent back in time to a rather
pivotal point in a past Coronado's history.
Captain Storsa was -- to say the least -- extremely reluctant to
believe that we were from the future, thinking it much more likely
that we were smugglers and looters, taking advantage of Qo'nos's
condition and minimal defenses. However, the Admiral was eventually
able to convince the Captain and her two officers that we were who
we said we were, and we were beamed to Captain Storsa's Coronado.
This Coronado, a fast frigate from the year 2302, was apparently in
the midst of transporting some 3000 Klingons from their badly-
damaged homeworld. Our personnel were moved to the ship's multi-
purpose room for debriefing. Meanwhile, some of the Klingons,
apparently being transported off Qo'nos within Coronado, were
transferred to the six cargo containers that this Coronado is
towing, containing the living facilities for the rest of the 3000.
We know from use of the Catapult that this must somehow be an
alternate universe, and General Ironside after being transported
aboard, hears about this transfer and theorizes that it is our
presence that causes these Klingons to overrun the Starfleet crew
transferring them.
Whether this is true or not, we never learn; however, it is true
that the Klingons do overrun the Starfleet security teams escorting
them to the cargo carriers and manage to somehow detonate two
explosive devices aboard the ship. One destroys the Bridge and most
of the senior officers; the other detonates in one of the transfer
corridors leading to this Coronado's Engineering department. In the
process, the Klingons break free of their escorts and manage to
capture Deck 5 of the 5-deck starship. With it, they also take
control of Coro's only shuttlecraft and some pressure suits, and use
them to capture the only other easily space-accessible deck
remaining, deck 3. As a result, the remains of Coronado's crew,
plus the travellers from the future, are trapped on decks 2 and 4,
with the Klingons reinforcing using their one shuttlecraft. One of
the Coronado officers, Lt. (JG) Teresa Valentine, decides our best
chance is to call for help, from the nearby cruiser U.S.S.
Churchill. This news is interesting because in our reality,
Churchill was lost in M64 in 2386, some 17 years before the
"present day"... we're therefore left in an alternate universe
facing a ship full of angry Klingons...
