Notes from the Captain:
I'm trying...really trying...to get this Sim Report out tonight (this
morning). I was out all day with family enjoying the Easter holiday
and didn't have my usual day off to myself. And so while I prepare
this I am also: reading through new issues of both XBN and Wine
Spectator Magazine (both new arrivals at my "other" mailing address,
that I hadn't received until today), heating up a bit of "my aunt
can't cook worht a cr-..." Beef Stew since I hardly ate anything
earlier, and using the scanner to scan some documents into my computer
that should have been done earlier today...if I actually had the day
to myself.
So yeah, as you can see...pretty multitasked out over here. But since
I love you all so much and know how much a somewhat timely-released
sim report means to you..I am doing this late tonight instead of
pushing it off until tomorrow afternoon or something. Anywhoo...
enjoy...hopefully I won't spill and beef stew on the report...
Sim Title: "Ignorance is Bliss", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

A no doubt highly classified First Contact report filed by the Team
Bravo of the Homeworld Starbase in orbit of Reor'sa goes into detail
about the Tar na zee infection as seen on Xur vessels. The report
states the infection is actually a silicone based lifeform that
absorbs any and all forms active energy in close proximity causing a
unique "spreading" response. The report goes on to indicate that a
certain energy threshold needs to be present in order for the lifeform
to have a reaction, anything less than this threshold only produces
very slight responses in the creature. The report finally states the
minority opinion that the Tar na zee has a specific energy threshold
that if reached would cause the lifeform to "wake up" and exhibit more
intelligent qualities...
During the Sim:
---------------
Coronado has taken up close position to the Torias sun in an attempt
to put distance between itself and the rest of the fleet in the
system. Nearly all senior Flag personnel are present in the 4th
Chamber CIC awaiting the return of Admiral Lora Kor from a meeting
where the arrival of the "4th Chamber Personnel" is sure to be the
prime topic.
Just about anyone with Engineering knowledge or a good idea seems to
take to the task of ridding Coro of the Tar na zee subversion. Nearly
all of Deck 8 Forward has been completly shut down in order to halt
the spread of the energy-absorbing life form. The First Contact
report is high on everyone's mind as they attempt to work out the
problem. Theories run from Commander Tal wishing to beam the
subversion off in one large chunk to Zunite Oswald's wish to try and
reach to so-called "wake up" threshold states to in the report.
Commodore Daren, satisfied that the subversion isn't going anywhere
for now, heavily weights all available options but chooses instead on
researching the available theories before acting.
Lora Kor returns from his meeting with some of the worst news a galaxy
can get. He briefs his staff that the visitors from the planet found
through a gate within the 4th Chamber call themselves "Partials" as
they are neither entirely human nor entirely sentient. They bring
devastating news that space time seems to be degrading as evident by
the number of tears across it. The Partials have also informed us
that Xanadu is not truly unique as two other identical asteroid
starships exist somewhere across space and time. These facilities
cause the tearing of the universe the Partials describe, and
eventually Xanadu will destroy M64 itself. The Partials were
"activated" as part of an experimental program to destroy Xanadu
should the tearing worsen to the point it apparently has. These
Partials however lack the knowledge or ability to destroy Xanadu
outright, their goal in coming to Xanadu was to inform Nexus Personnel
living in Alexandria. To their surprise, they found it evacuated.
With some answers and even more questions, a plan to attempt contact
once again with Olmy of the Nexus is begun.
Meanwhile, Coronado comes to the conclusion that as before the Tar na
zee subversion can be successfully beamed off the ship, provided all
subverted components and bulkheads are beamed off along with it, and
provided the transporter energy necessary doesn't exceed the creatures
threshold for expansion. It took quite a bit of research into the
creatures expansions over the past several hours to even guess as to
what the energy threshold may be, but finally a transport procedure is
put into motion to rid the subversive elements from Deck 8 piece by
piece in a very tedious process...
