Sim Title: "Death... But Not For You", Part 3

Things are quiet in the Regency system. Coronado arrived about a day
previous having stopped at Reor'sa for three days to allow for a more
intensive look at the individual crime scenes as a killer continues to
stalk former Coronado crew there. Most are quietly contemplating the
events to come and setting up a proper defense for a likely Xur attack
in the coming days.
Coronado is on a distant edge of the system patroling for possible Xur
rift-in spots when several Banshees enter from another vector. They
fail an ID check and are tagged as possibly subverted craft. This is
confirmed when a group of friendly Banshees approach. The subverted
ships turn and quickly take off while the group of friendlies pursue.
The small ships are no real immediate threat to Xanadu and no capital
ships are called in to aid in the chase.
Admiral Brian Aldur has arrived at Xanadu to discuss the future of the
facility. General Ironside doesn't feel that the Nexus' plan to
separate Xanadu from The Way will be sufficient to end the tears.
Aldur pulls Ironside aside and tells him that the last of the recon
patrols from behind Xur lines has come back, and that all ships that
have gone over have returned with some tar na zee infection. Most of
it repairable, but still a great concern for sending any other ships
into Xur territory. Thus, Admiral Theron has decided against a direct
assault on the Xur.
The Banshees follow the subverted fighters back to an area of space
with a rogue asteroid and a Xur Carrier a mere .96 light-years from
Xanadu's position. The single Carrier recovers the subverted ships.
Daren on Coronado seems eager to move in and squash the Xur Carrier,
but with the LORASON scan still largely incomplete Tal recommends
patience. The point is quickly moot however as the very next pulse
reveals that the Carrier has rifted out leaving behind just the
asteroid.
Still in their huddled conversation, Ironside informs Aldur of the
dopplegangers of himself and Tebrun, the same race as the being known
as Colonel Gregg, and how Olmy of the Nexus has had discussions with
Tebrun's. He also informs Aldur that he too has a doppleganger out
there somewhere, but that Olmy has not met him.
Commander Farley informs Daren that he has thought up a possible
counterattack to the Xur tar na zee infection. The Engineer seems to
have so much contact with the entity at late that he feels he is
expert enough to present his CO with this new idea which includes
using a known virus or modified virus to counter-act the infection.
Farley seems to have been talking to someone in sickbay as well. He
reports that the idea has performed well on computer simulations, but
needs more practical tests. Daren is of course wary of allowing the
Engineering department near any tar na zee infection strands, but is
open to Farley's idea. He tells the Engineer to prepare a detailed
report with Dr. Boswell and to have it on his desk in the morning,
then he will decide exactly what to do next about it.
