Notes from the Admiral:
Yet more changes to the roster this week. In particular, we welcome
back Kyle Marcy who will endeavor not to shoot any visiting
dignitaries in his new role on the Admiralty staff. ;) In addition,
Captain Daren has accepted the resigntation of Major Maxwell
Deveraux, who will be stepping down as a member of Coro's Marine
contingent. Thanks for the time you were able to give us, Tyler!
Other than that, not much to say about this one except nice work,
everyone! :)

Sim Title: "Cold and Distant Stars", Part 3
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

A routine Marine patrol of the southern slope of Mount Abora turns
up what appears to be a boojum sighting... until the "boojum"
informs the Marines that he wants to talk to someone in authority.
During the Sim:
---------------
Coronado remained within Xanadu, her repairs now proceeding much
more quickly with the assistance of the atmosphere and gravity
provided by the interior surface of the asteroid-starship. Aboard,
Rear Admiral Lora Kor clings to life, Doctor Reed having learned
that the subtle connection between host and symbiont has been
broken, probably by some kind of outside influence. However, he
made little progress in determining what that influence might be or
how to put a stop to it. The normal solution to outside telepathic
interference -- the various inhibiting drugs -- cannot be used with
Lora Kor since the host and symbiont themselves share a psychic
link. If Doctors Reed and Dyson can't find a solution soon,
however, the Tebrun Lora host will be dead in less than 12 hours...
Meanwhile, General Ironside and the command staff of Coronado had
an interesting problem to deal with: the boojum turned up by the
Marine patrol. Coro, sitting as she is near Alexandria, seems to be
a perfect place to meet this boojum and find out what he wants.
While the Marines escort him, General Ironside and Colonel Prescot
devise some very elaborate precautions which eventually fill the
transporter room to overflowing. When the boojum transports aboard
-- his name turns out to be Olmy -- he is about as non-threatening
as can be... almost anti-climactic. One interesting thing about him,
though: at least 50% of his communications skills seem to be via an
imager he wears over his left shoulder. A holographic device, it
displays images that emphasize his words or gestures from time to
time, possibly also making clear Olmy's real thoughts.
Olmy and his companion -- a medium-size life form apparently called
a "Frant" -- are escorted to the Wardroom, behind the flying Bridge
on deck 1. There, Olmy answers a few questions about the Nexus --
apparently what eventually became of the Jjaro -- and about Xanadu
itself. However, his primary purpose in revealing himself is to
tell the Defenders not to interfere or tamper with the Third Chamber
machinery. He notes that the Defenders are welcome to continue
their explorations of the rest of Xanadu, particularly the Second
Chamber and -- as much as is possible for us -- the Fourth Chamber.
But without becoming threatening, warns that it would be dangerous
for us to tinker with what we find in the Third. After answering a
few more questions, particularly from General Ironside, he is
escorted off the ship.
