Notes from the Admiral:
Wrapping up what I know has been a really complex arc, but I hope
you've all been enjoying it. :) I promise the next couple of
episodes are more straightforward, starting with a really low-key
one starting on the 22nd. In the meantime, I hope you're ready for
part 9 of 9 of this one. ;)
As all of you know, we finally heard from rev, so you can call off
the bloodhounds. ::grins::

Sim Title: "Archangel", Part 2

If you couldn't follow it, I'm not going to explain it to you. ;)
During the Sim:
---------------
Commander Tal had taken both Coronado's Bridge and the Captain
hostage, but the plan seemed more than a little spur-of-the-moment.
She didn't appear to have any plan for getting Coronado to L036/L037
other than threatening the Captain's life if her demands were not
met. Admittedly, this was an impressive level of threat, but
certainly didn't stop Major Prescot from making his own plans. In
the meantime, Tal was able to access the computer in the Captain's
Ready Room, in essence linking a "deadman's switch" between her
life signs and an overload of the EPS conduits in and around the
CIC/Bridge complex. Sure enough, Major Prescot launched an attack,
the prelude of which was to kill power across half the ship, then
charge the Ready Room with a false matter sword.
While heroic, certainly, the results were predictable. Prescot
managed to cripple Tal, but not before she could shoot Captain
Daren, leaving him critically wounded. Prescot then decapitated
Tal; this initiated the Commander's deadman's switch, which
incinerated much of the CIC/Bridge complex and finishing off both
the Captain and Prescot himself. This set up a major chain of
command collapse on Coro, as the Captain, Executive Officer, and
Marine Commandant (third in command of Coro) were dead; the chain of
command failure was complicated by Prescot's order to shut down
power to half the ship... As a result, it was some time before
Commander Savant, acting as the Task Group logistics officer, was
able to get Commander Reed set up as Coro's interim Commanding
Officer. The latter was able to reestablish power.
As a result, Coronado's situation, while dangerous enough, placed
her out of the main action. That fell to Commanders Ma'Aru and
Farley, whose Cerberus was still in the vicinity of L036/L037.
While Admiral Aldur considered this loop a success as it was, even
with the regrettable loss of three Coronado senior officers, Rear
Admiral Lora Kor did not. He ordered Cerberus into L036/L037 and
further ordered them to initiate another loop. Meanwhile, he took
the Admiralty staff deep into the Third Chamber recesses to gather
all the data that they could about how the singularities are linked
to the Third Chamber machinery in Xanadu. When the team reached the
proper place, they were greeted by a surprise: an image of a
younger, stronger Brian Aldur appeared in the control room to tell
Lora Kor that Aldur knew why Lora Kor was doing what he was doing.
Just as Commander Savant got the critical information, Commander
Farley initiated another -- and hopefully, our final -- loop in the
thread. We will have another chance to relive this day.
