Notes from the Admiral:
Easily our most successful August ever, both in terms of keeping the
plot going and in terms of attendance. Either people moved their
vacations around Coro or you all decided not to take them this year.
;) I'm very appreciative that (most) people who cannot be at the
sim are letting me know in advance. Keep it up! :)
My subfleet commander (::grins at Brad::) has recently implied that
sim descriptions of Omicron Subfleet sims have been getting a little
out of control, length-wise. A bit of thought on this subject has
convinced me that he's right, and I'm going to start doing some
self-editing to limit the sim descriptions to three paragraphs from
here on out. Please feel free to ask whatever questions you like
about *past* sims and I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my
ability. It's the questions about *future* sims that I won't
answer. ;)
rev, where are you? We're kind of hoping the convicts haven't
shoved a tent stake into your heart or something. ;)

Sim Title: "The Fire Within", Part 3
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Rear Admiral Lora Kor has a conversation with the being posing as
Colonel Stephen Gregg. During the conversation, the Admiral is
convinced that the beings that defend the threads are going to
sacrifice the particular thread that we all exist on...
During the Sim:
---------------
Coronado and those aboard her have escaped the most recent "loop in
the thread": the time loops that have plagued us lately. Though we
have escaped this one successfully, we are left with more questions
than answers. In particular, what is the significance of the Jjaro
defense tower and the data that it contains? It doesn't seem to
make much sense that it would be here merely to cause time loops.
We didn't have much time to consider the ramifications of this,
however, as there appeared to be bigger fish to fry. In particular,
both General Ironside and Commander Tal needed to find some way to
prove their innocence.
One item working in their favor: Colonel Gregg has told us that the
"barriers between threads" are currently so thin that "the Adversary"
can sometimes take control of a person's actions for brief periods.
This, at least, served to get both of them out of their respective
confinements. The Admiral, confined to Sickbay, escaped by a more
expedient route: he simply pointed out to Doctor Reed that there was
no point to him remaining in Sickbay if he could be monitored
anywhere. Reed reluctantly agreed, and the Admiral decided that
"anywhere" meant back to Xanadu to search for clues regarding the
nature of the "threads" that Colonel Gregg has mentioned. With him
went the majority of the Admiralty staff. Coronado remained outside
the facility to help defend it in case additional Xur ships arrive.
The Admiralty staff made it inside, but only just. As Kelaka
arrived within the interior of the asteroid-starship, a pair of
strange and frightening events happened. First, a research team in
the Fourth Chamber reported that something was coming *out* of that
chamber, from somewhere beyond: something massive and symmetrical,
possibly a ship. This ship, however, never made it to the Third
Chamber. The twin singularities which provide light and heat to the
Second Chamber of Xanadu were both extinguished, one by one, leaving
the Second chamber completely dark. Even worse: whatever occurred
to cause the singularities to die also destroyed the Fourth Chamber,
taking both the research team and the approaching ship with it.
