Notes from the Admiral:
Lots and lots of miscellaneous notes this week, particularly due to
the fact that two of our simmers resigned this week due to real life
conflicts. Thompson will be relinquishing his Assistant Tactical
position, and George will be giving up his position in the
Engineering empire. ;) Thanks for what time you could give us,
gents, and please let me know if you can return!

Sim Title: "Crowded House", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Those aboard Vanguard are there to see Coronado and the Drohak
warship emerge from the spatial distortion. Rear Admiral Marshall
orders the distortion collapsed. However, this can apparently only
be done with an outward-focused matter-antimatter explosion, and
Vanguard lacks the proper weapons. Her crew gets busy modifying the
weapons they do carry to suit. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to those on
Coro, a familiar presence is offered reincarnation in Alexandria
City Memory, but rejects this offer in horror.
During the Sim:
---------------
Coronado remains within Xanadu, with surprisingly little access to
"the outside world." Even Savant, who could be expected to have
access to the computers and sensors of every ship with an ansible,
has been somehow locked out of Panache and Vanguard. These two
ships are the ones she is most interested in because they have
apparently been tasked with collapsing the spatial distortion that
Coro has escaped from. Admiral Lora Kor suggests to Captain Daren
that perhaps a "patrol" outside the asteroid-starship to help
"guard" it would gain us more information.
However, frustrated and apparently impatient, the Admiral demands
more information of Commander Velorna Tal when she arrives aboard.
The Admiral is even more angry when he learns that Tal is aboard at
the orders of Rear Admiral Dev Wallace to "evaluate" Coronado's
Captain and crew. Essentially demanding some answers, the Admiral
decides to leave Xanadu himself in Kelaka, dragging Tal and the
Admiralty senior officers with him. The stealthy gig makes its way
along the outside surface of Xanadu to the distortion for a closer
look. Admiral Lora Kor and his staff take the opportunity of this
trip to grill Tal for information.
Meanwhile, Colonel Wayne's Raptor squadron also approaches the
distortion, and is halted by a flight of Spectres, possibly from
Panache. These fighters demand that Wayne's squadron withdraw, and
when the Colonel doesn't do so immediately, threaten to board the
Wraiths. Wayne decides to withdraw and the fighters do not pursue
the matter. However, it is clear that the squadron will not allow
any "unauthorized" ship to approach the distortion. Only Vanguard
and Panache are allowed nearby.
Aboard Coronado, Lieutenant D'rall takes the opportunity of our
stationary position to convene flight training and requalification
trials for anyone who cares to participate. This holodeck activity
is enough for those who fly only infrequently to keep their
Starfleet flight status. The Engineering team is too busy, however,
overseeing repairs to Coro; others aboard also pursue their own
interests during this lull in activity aboard the frigate.
The situation near the distortion comes to a head when Panache
approaches it much more closely. Suddenly deploying escape pods and
shuttle craft, the destroyer dives into the distortion. However,
rather than disappearing within as Coro did, Panache reaches the
event horizon and becomes stuck there, like a fly in amber. This
appears to be intentional when the ship self-destructs! Lora Kor,
watching from Kelaka, makes it clear that he believes that the
ship's destruction was intentional -- perhaps someone felt it was
the only way to collapse the distortion -- and moves in to help
rescue the survivors.
