Notes from the Admiral:
Once again, I'm writing a sim report at 37,000 feet. ;) And once
again, you guys turned in an excellent sim. Nice work! I'm told
that we're once again in Bergen contention. Who knows, though: this
sequence's version of the recognition might be called "Bergen Award
for best sims in UCIP not called U.S.S. Coronado". ::grins::
I again had a very difficult time with this week's sim summary.
There was such a wealth of stuff going on (the transcript is 140K,
which from 14 people that were there for the full sim is a LOT) that
I really encourage everyone who wasn't able to follow the full sim
to go back and read the trascripts for the pieces you missed. :)

Sim Title: "The Fourth Chamber", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Rear Admiral Dev Wallace and his team worked to evacuate the Second
Chamber after Colonel Wayne inadvertently attempted to activate the
Catapult. While this was routine for most of the Chamber's
occupants, it was a bit more difficult for a few groups, notably a
contingent of Marines Colonel Ironside was leading toward the Third
Chamber. Wallace's work, however, was interrupted by the arrival
of Rear Admiral Lora Kor. Lora Kor, bringing three support ships
with him, also brought orders for Admiral Wallace to stand down
from his command of Xanadu...
During the Sim:
---------------
With the arrival of Rear Admiral Lora Kor and three starships, the
personnel still hiding in Xanadu's Second Chamber became a lot more
bold. Colonel Ironside was the best example: having already
commandeered a convoy of vehicles from Alexandria, he and the troops
with him proceeded toward the Third Chamber tunnel entrance. This
tactic had the benefit of directness, but it also made him quite
obvious to spotters on the zero-G axis. As a result, a pair of
Marine tanks were waiting for him at the Third Chamber tunnel, as
well as a number of entrenched troops. However, these troops were
not Marines but rather elements of the "7th Reorsan Security" force
-- people that Ironside had no influence over.
However, Admiral Wallace's spotters weren't the only forces on the
zero-G axis. Leaving two Defiant II class escorts to take control
of Alexandria's docking platform, Lora Kor took Kelaka and the
Marine transport Douglas MacArthur to Ironside's position and beamed
him down some support in the form of the 3rd Battallion, 1st
Marines. Meanwhile, unheard by those on the "ground," Lora Kor,
Wallace, and Vice Admiral Brian Aldur discussed Wallace's stand down
order. Savant was able to monitor this conversation and relay key
points to the teams at the surface level, right up to the point
where Wallace agreed to stand down and ordered the troops following
him to do the same. This gave the Marines with Ironside free rein
to take control of the two tanks and other vehicles as the Reorsan
Security forces surrendered them.
With the situation at the Third Chamber tunnel stabilized, Rear
Admiral Lora Kor ordered his staff to rally aboard the gig and
announced his intention to proceed through the Third Chamber into
the Fourth. As the staff assembled, he was philosophical with
Savant, noting that Wallace was essentially correct in his actions:
without the massive, far-flung Starfleet, the Defenders will have to
be much more straightforward and direct about defending their
holdings. The Pfhor proved that in M64, we do not have the luxury
of trading space for time and we must therefore be much more
proactive in our defensive techniques. Soon, the Admiralty staff,
including General Ironside, had gathered on Kelaka and the gig
proceeded into the Third Chamber. Far below, the group originally
with Ironside commandeered sufficient vehicles (including a tank) to
follow the runabout at surface level.
Passing through the Third Chamber at surface level was relatively
routine but flying through proved very difficult. The split
singularities are one complication, but an even greater danger are
the multiple energy fields criss-crossing the chamber. Lora Kor got
Kelaka through safely with some difficulty only to find that flying
in the Fourth Chamber is possibly even more dangerous. Past 61
kilometers, one's perceptions are altered and simply maintaining a
straight course was difficult. Lora Kor, however, was determined to
proceed out to 300 kilometers, near the "wall" that apparently
separates the garden area of the Fourth Chamber from the area known
as No Man's Land. The Admiral managed to land Kelaka safely, but it
took every bit of his experience to do so -- near surface level, the
cylinder surface seems increasingly dangerous -- like a never-ending
wall -- and Kelaka seemed in danger of crashing.
The Fourth Chamber team's difficulties were more amusing at ground
level. Commander Marcy, piloting one of the ground vehicles, drove
off the road into a bush thanks to his altered perception of where
the road was. Not taking the hint, he got the vehicle back on the
road only to nearly collide with a large tree. Obviously, the
Fourth Chamber takes some getting used to. This was nowhere more
evident than at the "wall," where the team with the Admiral left the
gig to take a look into No Man's Land. Few of the team lasted more
than a few minutes, and their reactions were varied, from borderline
nausea to giddyness... Clearly that area is going to take some
getting used to as well.
