And so, we're off and running again with another long-term plot. :)
Again, if you haven't reviewed the events of "Dead Reckoning" and
"Caravan to Antares" from October/November 1999, now would be an
excellent time to do so. ;) You'll find the sim teasers, reports,
and transcripts on the Coro website, in the Sim Info section...
LewisSharp, aka Lt. Aramis Skylooker, has requested and been granted
what could either be a very short or a very long LOA. :/ I for one
hope he returns soon!

Sim Title: "The Thousand Ships", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Rear Admiral Lora Kor receives a visitation... from someone who
appears to be Captain Walker Kile. However, this should be
impossible, since the last time we encountered Captain Kile was in
2486... Before this, however, Lora Kor deals with two more routine
matters. One of them involves Renegade's destroyed holographic
interface; Lora Kor invites Savant to consider replacing that
interface by "reproducing"... if that's even possible.
During the Sim:
---------------
Ship's afternoon ended, and ship's evening began as Alpha watch came
off duty. Many of Coronado's senior personnel gathered in Seventh
Heaven to chat about recent events and wish for shore leave.
However, for some, there was no rest with the end of the shift if
the Captain had his way. Daren scheduled a series of unannounced
drills for Coro's senior staff, starting with a Security drill
affecting both decks 7 and 8. Unbeknownst to the ship's Tactical/
Security staff, holographic projectors on both decks had been
programmed to generate a series of intruders. These intruders were
designed to be difficult to detect and defeat...
The Admiral, meanwhile, apparently having completed his discussion
with Captain Kile, gathered the Admiralty staff, including General
Ironside, in his quarters to discuss the visitation. Lora Kor
revealed that Kile told him that events are proceeding as "they are
supposed to." Further, he apparently said that the Starfleet
personnel trapped in M64 are no longer to attempt to warn our
counterparts in the Milky Way of the Borg Collective's plan to
destroy the Federation... 83 years hence.
More than three years ago, Coronado discovered some part of future
events in the Milky Way: eventually, the Borg will develop a weapons
system that allows them to disrupt use of subspace over a very wide
area. Bereft of warp drive and subspace communications, Starfleet
has no way to defend the Federation against Borg encroachment. We
learned that by 2486, only a small handful of planets will be in
Federation control; the rest will have been assimilated. At that
time, an enormous fleet of colony ships, transports, and defense
vessels will flee through a Traxati hypergate... fleeing in an
attempt to escape the Borg and establish a new Federation somewhere
far away from the Collective. We never learned whether this effort
was successful.
Now, however, we might have a clue of how this exodus went. Lora
Kor advanced the theory that those colonists may have somehow become
the Jjaro. They would have had our reconnaissance data on the M64
galaxy and the address of the Traxati hypergate in the Gateway
system. The staff, while discussing the possibilities, realized
that this exodus -- known to themselves as "The Thousand Ships" --
might have used their own alliance with the Traxati to somehow
migrate to M64 and start a new life there. How The Thousand Ships
might have ended up thousands or hundreds of thousands of years in
the past instead of the M64 of 2486, however, is a mystery. The
officers continue discussing it, eventually concluding that the
Traxati world-life in the Enigma system might have some answers.
Lora Kor indicates that he will order Coronado to Enigma.
Captain Daren, meanwhile, shifted the focus of his drills from the
Tactical department to Engineering. Or did he? The Captain claimed
that he had no drills scheduled for that part of the ship... but a
major problem developed with the warp reactor control programs, a
case of suspicious timing to say the least. However, the
Engineering team was up to the challenge, even as the warp reactor
temperature rose and a plasma leak threatened to engulf the ship.
Oswald and her team managed to get both problems under control,
shutting down the warp core... and revealing the exercise was
another drill. The Captain seems to be taking seriously the
Admiral's insistence that discipline aboard Coronado improve...
