Notes from the Admiral:
Last week, I wrote in my notes:
Not very much that I can add to this one. Sorry this report is a
bit late, but I've been having e-mail troubles early in the week,
followed by any number of distractions later in the week. ;)
Everyone did a great job with the actual sim, though!
::grins:: The same basic notes apply to this week as well, with the
addition of something that I'm really impressed about. I really
doubt that many other sims could run a plot in which their
characters are actively having difficulties with an aspect of their
jobs, and make such a plot both believable and consistent with those
same characters being good at every other aspect of their jobs.
Very nicely done indeed. :)
As a reminder, Phishie, aka 1Lt. Natalia Petrovna, has requested a
leave of absence for six weeks. I have promised not to tease her
about this, but I don't remember any of you making that promise, so
feel free to tease her mercilessly about it. ::snickers::

Sim Title: "Under Construction", Part 3
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Rear Admiral Lora Kor and Commander Drexler discuss the problem on
Micropolis. In particular, Lora Kor takes Drexler into his
confidence after learning that the Micropolis natives learned about
Reor'sa from Marine Captain Craig Serrold. In particular, there is
good reason that they may have acquired Serrold's hatred of the
Pfhor and their Hunter/Hound soldiers...
During the Sim:
---------------
The away team to the surface, having returned to Coronado, completed
their debriefings. With that done, Rear Admiral Lora Kor wondered
aloud to Savant whether Captain Daren would lead a second mission to
the surface to try and salvage the Micropolis contact. Meanwhile,
the rest of the Admiralty staff, including General Ironside,
gathered in the CinC and brooded both about the failed mission, and
the current poor morale and discipline aboard the frigate.
Commander Savant in particular seemed very unhappy about the turn of
events and sought out Lora Kor to discuss them with him, as well.
Lora Kor told Savant that he couldn't recommend to Daren that Coro's
Captain try the contact again, but Savant certainly could. Savant
met with Captain Daren to expedite this, with little effect.
This left the Admiral with little choice but to meet with Captain
Daren and express, officially, how unhappy he was with the result of
the mission. The Captain tried to put a good face on it, noting
that the entire away team returned to the ship unharmed and while
the Micropolis natives aren't our friends, at least they are not our
enemies either. The Admiral retorted, somewhat acidly, that though
this result might be acceptable in the Milky Way, in M64, there are
only a small handful of ships available to attempt to salvage the
contact. In short, he expects more from Coronado than an equivalent
ship in the Milky Way. He orders Captain Daren to put Coro's house
in order, or, as he puts it, he "will be forced to reevaluate"
Coronado's "command structure." The Captain acknowledges this
rather terse order.
Commanders Smith and Reed, meanwhile, work in Cargo Bay Two with
Olme Tlaloco and his son, Paqui. The situation here is nearly as
precarious, with very little resolved. Paqui is still an enormous
threat to Coronado. In addition, Tlaloco shows evidence of being
able to somehow receive telepathic "transmissions" while in stasis,
something that the Doctor insists in the strongest possible voice is
impossible -- time has stopped for Tlaloco, and that includes his
brain. However, the evidence is hard to refute, and Smith wonders
whether it is possible to track these "transmissions" to their
source, or at least learn what they might contain.
The situation is only complicated all the more when Ensign Miller
comes down to Cargo Bay Two and for reasons that are mysterious to
say the least, attempts to kill Commander Tlaloco. Miller is
quickly restrained, but this only deepens the mystery surrounding
Coro's Chief of Operations...
Once Captain Daren and Rear Admiral Lora Kor finish their
conversation and it is clear that Captain Daren is not interested in
attempting to salvage the Micropolis contact, Lora Kor orders
Coronado out of the Micropolis system and back to Reor'sa, pending
further orders. He then heads down to the CIC, worried and
depressed that there simply isn't another ship that he can give the
Micropolis mission to. In the meantime, Coro's crew has to leave
Micropolis knowing that they've not been successful here, and
wondering what their next mission may bring...
