Sim Title: "Marching Orders", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Lt. Commander Owens tells Vice Admiral Aldur that the Xanadu
Catapult is still operational, and that there is enough power to
open a rift to Earth. Unfortunately, there is not enough power to
open a full gate, but only one of 18 centimeters diameter. Aldur
orders Owens to prepare a communications relay to send through the
rift so that we can use it to send messages to the Milky Way...
Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Lora Kor takes the time to recognize
personnel under his command for their performance in the battles in
Longshot and Lh'owon.
During the Sim:
---------------
The war is over, and Reor'sa has been liberated from the Hunters and
Hounds that previously held the planet. However, our problems may
only just be beginning. The Hunters devastated much of Fisher's
Island, leaving Churchill Downs and Fisher's Landing in ruins. The
planet's population will likely be months or years repairing and
rebuilding. In the meantime, the Defender starships in the area
have been called in to assist with search and rescue operations, and
to give their crews time to relax. Coronado settled into orbit of
the planet to handle these and other priorities.
One of the issues left unresolved from the end of the war was
Commander Tlaloco's status. The Commander deserted several weeks
ago, intending to make contact with the Pfhor. This didn't go quite
the way he expected, but he did manage to make contact with the
Watchers. Tlaloco attempted to convince Commander Smith that his
child Paqui is half-Pfhor, thanks to the intervention of the
Watchers. Smith was skeptical, to say the least, pointing out that
Tlaloco has no proof. He made it clear to our former Chief of
Operations that as far as the XO was concerned, Olme's career in
Starfleet was over and offered him a deal: accept an honorable
discharge and live his life as a civilian, or Smith would push for a
general court-martial.
Rear Admiral Lora Kor, meanwhile, felt as if he had to get down to
the planet and assist the civilian population. He recruited
Commanders Drexler and Savant, and Colonel Ironside also invited
himself along when he learned the Admiral was leaving the ship. The
group boarded Kelaka and headed for the surface. There are still
Hunters and Hounds here and there on the island, so Ironside
suggested that a low-profile approach to the surface was in the
group's best interests. The Admiral selected a high-speed drop, but
the gig still came under Hunter attack. The Admiral seemed to
relish the opportunity to track down the attackers, and with the
Colonel operating the weapons, he piloted the gig through several
passes against the attackers.
Savant nominally went along, but not long after the attack started,
she seemed to go completely inactive. Drexler, aboard Kelaka, and
Ma'Aru, aboard Coronado, determined that Savant was being affected
by a transmission from Coronado. Commander Ma'Aru traced the
transmission to Tlaloco's quarters; with Tlaloco in the Brig, the
only person who could be sending the transmissions is Paqui...
Eventually, Savant was freed from whatever was affecting her and she
was able to assist once Kelaka reached her search-and-rescue target.
En route to that target, Admiral Lora Kor told Ironside that he'd
like to promote Ironside to Brigadier General and put him in charge
of a Division of the Defender ground forces. Ironside was initially
reluctant, but promised to think about the offer.
Our new CMO, Doctor Reed, managed to get himself into some chain of
command trouble. Not long before departing with the Admiral and the
others on Kelaka, Ironside put Marine Captain ch'Thane on restricted
duty as a form of administrative punishment. Doctor Reed saw fit to
override Ironside's orders, something that the Colonel is likely to
take great exception to...
