Notes from the Captain:
Hi all. :) I've added a couple of new sections to the "Logistics"
section of the report. A line at the top that looks like this:
SUMMARY: Attendance 16/20 (3E) + 3 guests (6 after-simmers, 18 logs)
will give Kahlia/Brad/Masters a quick summary for their subfleet
report. In this case, "Attendance 16/20" means that 16 of 20 Coro
simmers made it this week. "(3E)" means that of the 4/20 that
didn't make it, three were "excused" or announced absences. "+3
guests" should be obvious. ;) "6 after-simmers" means that six
people stayed to after-sim *the previous week*; unfortunately, I
often don't get the after-sim log until the week after a given sim.
And finally, "18 logs" should also be obvious. Toward the bottom
of the Logistics section, I've detailed those who attended the
after-sim and those who wrote logs.
Speaking of logs, let me say how really, REALLY impressed I was by
the logs last week and the ones so far this week! Many of you have
obviously spent lots and lots of time thinking about your AU
characters, and that definitely shows in the logs that you wrote!
Well done! It took me an extra hour this week to do the sim report
so I could go over all the logs in detail, but it was well worth it.
:) The number of logs was also very impressive; may as well see if
we can give the so-called hybrids a run for their money... ;)
I've put Archyyt, aka 2Lt. Mikhail Petkovic, on a 4-week Leave of
Absense in the hopes that I'll hear from him before then. ;)

Sim Title: "Articles of Faith", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

In the alternate universe, Tebrun Lora Kor, here the CEO of
Whitestone Enterprises, flies himself and Mr. Dalton, his COO, to
Reorsa. The two have been invited to the planet for the signing of
the Articles of Alliance. En route, Dalton engages Lora Kor in a
conversation about the company's future, and about a strange malaise
that the Trill has been feeling of late...
During the Sim:
---------------
It was a busy time for the budding Alliance. The signing ceremony
was only 24 hours away, and ships from all over known space
converged on Reor'sa. Aboard were the dignitaries and diplomats
that would be involved in the signing ceremonies, as well as
Defender ships and select guests invited to participate in or
witness the signing. Among the Defender starships were both U.S.S.
Coronado, R.S. Pegasus, and R.S. Vanquish; among the civilians, the
CEO and COO of Whitestone Enterprises, Tebrun Lora Kor and Dalton.
The latter two landed in Andalee and after reaching Fisher's
Landing, almost immediately got to "work." Work in this case
involved attempting to recruit several Defender officers with
particularly good technical skills who are eligible for retirement,
such as Commander Jack C. Farley, Coronado's Chief Engineer. They
also had discussions with Zunite Oswald-Dejat, a civilian living on
the planet, and Savant, Coronado's holographic interface. After
meeting with many of these, Lora Kor and Dalton adjourned to their
hotel room to discuss tactics for recruiting these worthies.
Meanwhile, only a few kilometers away, Vice Admiral Dev Wallace and
General Jeremy Ironside discuss the problem of the post-war drawing
down of the Defenders, and whether the two of them will remain part
of the organization to train the next generation. Ironside seems
inclined to retire, weary of war and bloodshed, but Wallace remains
enthusiastic. The two part company when Wallace has to return to
the public duties that go with his job. Ironside remains to chat
with his daughter and spend some time with his grandchildren before
escorting Oswald-Dejat to her meeting with Dalton.
Reminded of his responsibilities in this matter, Wallace attempted
to contact both Commanders Farley and Dejat on Coronado. He was
initially unsuccessful, and spent some of the intervening time
talking to Colonel Prescot and briefly to S'buuth about the problem.
Eventually, he got through to both of them and to Commander Ma'Aru,
offering all three promotions and new positions within the Defiant
Fleet. Dejat and Farley, in particular, were offered commands.
Aboard Coronado, there were a number of issues being dealt with.
First, Doctor Thompson had some sort of an attack and attempted to
force himself on Lieutenant Lauren Dyson; the CMO was taken into
custody. Commander Daren took the opportunity of some time off to
head to the surface. He eventually ended up in an Inn in Fisher's
Landing with Captain Drexler, not coincidentally the exact one
Lora Kor and Dalton were running their recruiting efforts from...

you make sure you have more information than the other side, and you
pull out when you find out that's no longer the case!
<Savant> ::She cringed inwardly, drawing away for a moment... D`rall
had unwittingly cut her to the quick:: There are no analysis
techniques for finding out the truth in that matter, Ma'am. All I
can offer is references to philosophy.
<Tebrun_LoraKor> Inn> First rule in negotiating with a person,
Dalton. She -- it... it! -- was... well, I find this hard to
credit, but it was bluffing!
<Tebrun_LoraKor> Inn> There's no way to scan visual data from a
voice-only public comm station. She -- it -- could probably hear
the etchings of the stylus on the PADD.
<Tebrun_LoraKor> Inn> It was a test. Looks like we've passed -- for
the moment. But I'm going to have to read up on this Savant.

cheered somewhat by their analysis. The sensor camera in the corner
