Sim Title: "Xanadu", Part 3
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Two Banshees from the Whitestone Elite group explore the far
"southern" portion of the second chamber, including the portals
leading to the presumed third chamber and the singularity towers.
In particular, the fighters examine a vortex of energy on the south
wall between the singularities. However, the two fighters fail to
find any sign of the ghost ship that seems to be in the second
chamber. While investigating the singularity towers, though, one of
the fighters is snared by a tendril very similar to the ones holding
Coronado in place.
During the Sim:
---------------
The Away team in the ruined tower continued to work with the
structure's systems. In particular, Commander Smith ordered that
Olme Tlaloco and his son be revived from stasis. Commander Oswald
disagreed with the XO and refused to assist, eventually becoming
obstinate about it. Smith had her taken into custody and returned
to Coronado under Lt. Commander Marcy's supervision. Both Tlaloco
and his son were eventually freed from stasis and also sent to
Coronado.
Meanwhile, Masada moved to assist a Banshee strike craft that was
investigating the singularity towers on the second chamber's south
wall. While doing so, the Banshee became enmeshed by a tendril
similar to the one holding Coronado. Masada attempted many of the
same "fixes" that those on Coronado had tried, such as firing on the
tendril, without success. When a team under Commander Farley
determined that it is possible to travel through the tendrils,
though, both Farley's team and the Banshee pilot crossed the
interior of the tendrils to find control rooms of some sort.
Farley, working with his control room, was quickly able to find the
proper console to release Coro from the tendril. The Banshee pilot
soon had the same success. While the Banshee pilot returned to
Masada, Farley found a second control chamber behind the first and
moved to explore it.
Savant remained in communication with "Alicia," apparently Xanadu's
avatar and more or less equivalent to Savant in programming and
intent. Though Alicia was not able to share much in the way of
useful information -- the tower control room team's access to data
was blocked because we lacked sufficient authorization from the
"Nexus," whatever that is. However, Alicia seemed to take pity on
the group in the tower control room and gently guided them toward a
control room near the back wall. Admiral Lora Kor picked up this
group and ferried them to the singularity tower that had previously
snared the Banshee.
In his control room, Farley found what appeared to be either
controls or status monitors for the two singularities in the second
chamber. The team in the singularity tower found a similar control
room... however, only some of the team could enter it. Others were
affected by strange sensations, either a physical sickness or a
general sense that things were "not right." Both teams were able to
monitor some kind of "ripple" passing through the singularities.
When Savant reached the second control room, she quickly learned
that this room controls the vortex of energy between the
singularities... and that this vortex is a gateway or "Catapult"
offering a passage to any location in the universe.
However, at this moment, a second ripple emerged in the
singularities and touched the first...
