Notes from the Captain:
Nice job with the sim this week, everyone! I realize that this is a
complicated plot with a lot going on, so if there's anything you're
not following, please feel free to ask. :) The one thing I don't
want to have happen is for anyone to get lost.
Not much else I can say about this one, except feel free to write
logs even if you're not getting double credit for them. ;) Our
log count has again slowed down, and I realize I'm not leaving a
lot of time for reacting to things, so feel free to log those
reactions!

Sim Title: "Xanadu", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:

Hints about what is to come, in the form of a 19th century poem
called "Xanadu." Among the obvious hints: caves of ice, walls,
towers, mountains, and gardens. Less obvious: damsels with
dulcimers, and where exactly do I find the pleasure-dome? ;-)
During the Sim:
---------------
Coronado reached the second chamber of the Longshot object to find
it resembled nothing so much as the interior of a Camelynian
Worldship on an enormous scale. More than 100 kilometers long and
70 in diameter, the second chamber is a cylinder. The asteroid
spins on its long axis; along the center are the two string
singularities as well as little atmosphere and zero gravity. As one
proceeds toward the interior walls of the cylinder, atmospheric
pressure and gravity both rise to near-Earth levels. "Built" onto
the interior walls of the cylinder is an enormous ring-shaped city,
as well as mountains, plains, forests, rivers, and lakes. The
second chamber also has its own biosphere, including lifeforms of
all types, and water cycle, including weather and rain. It is a
tremendous engineering and scientific accomplishment, hundreds of
years ahead of Federation capabilities.
Coro put an away team into the city in the second chamber, near the
heart of what appeared to be the most dense area of the city. Here,
the team encountered ruined buildings and devastation indicative of
some form of attack. The weapons used to attack the city were
somewhat difficult to discern, but the weapons used by the city's
defenders were anti-proton beam-based, similar to Pfhor weaponry.
However, oddly, the team also encountered a Traxati weapons
emplacement, or at least one that used a Traxati energy signature
and capabilities. This is odd because though the Traxati have a
presence in M64, that presence told us it was alone here.
Monitoring from Coro's CIC, Savant attempted to access the
asteroid's computers while Drexler, Ma'Aru, and Admiral Lora Kor
talked with S'buuth about the knowledge he has of the Jjaro. This
information was mostly apocryphal, almost legendary -- similar to a
human discussing King Arthur or Robin Hood. However, S'pht did have
a wealth of such stories, and it's entirely possible that there are
some elements of historical fact in them, so the three listened.
Meanwhile, Savant managed to access the computer, to find that it
was the "Alexandria Library Computer," or Alicia for short. The
Federation wording and naming, as well as the partial acronym, led
Savant to believe the impossible: that the Longshot asteroid was
constructed by Federation member races.
Though difficult to believe, the information was passed to the away
team, which started sending up some confirming data: first, the
engineering of the second chamber is of advanced Camelynian design.
Second, a number of advanced suits of Marine armor were found within
a tower in the second chamber, and those suits of armor were
associated with DNA traces of Milky Way races such as humans,
Andorians, Camelynians, and others. Third, there are a number of
subtle clues and hints within the chamber itself, including street
signs in Federation standard and animal races found only on
Federation member worlds, particularly a family of tigers in the
open spaces and a particular breed of raptor flying above the city.
Commander Drexler theorized that the asteroid was in fact built in
the Milky Way then somehow sent to M64... but that would not explain
the fact that the asteroid appears to be thousands of years old.
While those "on the ground" and aboard Coro and the other ships in
the second chamber tried to put this data together, we received
another bit of shocking information: one of the Marine armor suits
apparently contains DNA of what could very easily be a S'pht
precursor races, something S'buuth identified as a F'lickta. The
remains were transported to Coro for study. The combination of
factors convinced Lora Kor to investigate the second chamber for
himself; he gathered a team and headed to Kelaka to prepare to head
down "to the surface."
