Sim Title: "A Night at the (Space) Opera"
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Following the Second Battle for Pitstop, the allies in the Pitstop
system celebrate their first solid victory over the Pfhor. Admiral
Marshall on Vanguard invites interested Starfleet personnel to
participate in his ship's "movie night." Meanwhile, Admirals Aldur
and Theron worry over the damage status of the allied ships and
discuss naming conventions for the series of Defiant class warships
under construction on Reorsa and the Meyer colonies.
During the Sim:

"What in God's name was that cheesy embarrassment?" Tom Hanks asked,
pulling off the overjacket of the Starfleet uniform the costuming
department had given him. As he did, he kicked a Guinness bottle
that had been carelessly laid aside by someone in product placement.
It clattered across the soundstage backset corridor. For a brief
spiteful moment, Hanks hoped the noise ruined a shot on the stage
somewhere. No such luck -- a glance at the closest exit door showed
that it's red flashing light that would have indicated active filming
on the set was off.
"I don't know," Tom Wilson said, also pulling off a uniform jacket,
"but whoever got the bright idea that I'm the Jar-Jar of this
franchise is gonna pay. God damned typecasting."
Michael Ironside just grunted. He knew all about typecasting.
Instead of commenting, he pulled out his cellphone and called his
travel agent to make his flight arrangements back home to Toronto.
The three men, Hanks in the lead, left the soundstage through the
side door, the bell ringing behind them to let them know someone was
getting ready to film a new scene. The contrast between the darkness
of the soundstage and the bright Los Angeles sunshine was marked, and
it took a few seconds for their eyes to adjust to the glare. Both
Hanks and Ironside pulled sunglasses from somewhere and put them on.
"Hey, there's Bobby DeNiro," Wilson said, looking over at the line of
trailers where the actors lived while on the set. "Is he in this
thing?" Wilson asked.
Hanks shrugged. "I hear he has a bit part in it somewhere," he said.
"I'll see you gents later. I need to talk to him about something."
Hanks moved off from the two men, who watched him head for DeNiro.
"Must be nice to be A-list," Wilson said, his voice sarcastic as
Hanks and DeNiro greeted each other enthusiastically. "You know,
*not* to have to do the damned video games and cartoons." Ironside
nodded ruefully. Wilson and Ironside turned and continued toward
their trailers to change out of the ridiculous costumes...
