Notes from the Captain:

::grins:: Sorry, but I'm evil. Yes, I realize starting the sim by saying
how relaxing it was going to be was a dirty trick, but I couldn't resist.
;) Just goes to show that you can't let down your defenses for a second.

All in all, a very enjoyable sim! I absolutely promise that next week's
sim will have no bad guy interruptions. ::grins:: As I said in last
week's sim report, next week is Coro's first ever holiday party, so bring
your good cheer and leave your uniforms at home. There will definitely be
presents, and there may even be a special guest or two. ;)

In addition, the next sim is also our CEO's in-character birthday. She
wanted me to make sure everyone knew. ;)

Due to some real-life difficulties, LewisSharp aka Lt. Aramis Skylooker
has informed me that he needs to take an extended LOA until sometime in
January. :/ Hope to see you back on Coronado soon, Sky!

The 10th was the debut night of the newest version of the LCARS bot. The
new bot has some interesting features, including a randomizer for attacks
made with ship-borne weapons. In other words, when you type ::fires
phasers::, the automatic ACTION, which used to be the same every time, is
now generated randomly. This makes the automatic actions a little less
repetitive. It also saved the lives of three members of Coro's crew (see
the Exchange of the Week, below). ;) Other automatic actions have been
modified to be random in a similar way. This version of the bot can also
distinguish between actions performed on Coro versus actions performed on
Coro's many secondary ships. So, if you type ::fires phasers:: from
Kelaka, you'll get a Kelaka-specific automatic action. There are other
new features scattered throughout that you'll see as the sim goes on.

Coro's crew's current position is the Reor system, which you'll find in
Grid 004 next to the smaller of the two nebulae on the main map. Of
course, if you don't know where Reor is by now, you're probably not paying
any attention to the map... ;-) Coronado herself is under repair in the
Pitstop system in Grid 001, between Reor and Gateway.

Sim Title: "Trade Delegation", Part 3

Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Coronado's command crew has returned to Churchill Downs following our
successful defense of Everon against the Hunters and their Hounds. While
some of the crew relaxes after the harrowing encounter, others work on
personal projects. Of particular interest are the equations sold to us by
the Ventu. A replicator modified with these equations produces a peculiar
substance that has some of the qualities of matter, and some of the
qualities of a forcefield. The most interesting aspect of this substance
is the fact that it seems to cut through nearly anything -- as far as we
can tell, this "false matter" pushes real matter out of its way...

During the Sim:
---------------
Groups of Coronado's crew gathered in various areas of Churchill Downs and
Fisher's Landing, continuing to work on projects after our return from
Everon. Colonel Ironside held a meeting with one of his marines in an
office established in the Reorsan Ministry of Defense, as well as his
daughter, who arrived primarily to chat with "dad" and lament over Coro's
continued and lengthy repairs. Meanwhile, Doctor Thompson and Major Wayne
investigated the "passenger" that disembarked the Ventu ship. This
lifeform, thin to the point of emaciation but with pronounced musculature,
had been transported aboard Wayne's Wraith in a stasis bubble apparently
constructed of false matter. Thompson worked to free the lifeform from
the bubble once Wayne confirmed the Wraith was secure. He was successful
and the lifeform emerged from the bubble immediately demanding to know
where he was and why. Doctor Thompson negotiated with the lifeform.

At the spaceport in Fisher's Landing, the Captain, Lieutenant Farley, and
Commander Drexler talked about ways of producing and using false matter in
weapons to be used against the Pfhor. Commander Daren and Lieutenant Wilk
struggled to understand the continuing pattern of Pfhor attacks on the
area around Churchill Downs. Ironically, Wilk determined that the pattern
was cyclical, and that another strong cycle of attacks should just be
beginning when one began.

A few minutes before, an apparently-damaged Reorsan patrol craft had been
returning to the surface after a successful patrol. The craft was
escorted by a squadron of Reorsan attack-fighters. Everything seemed
normal until the patrol craft and the fighters opened fire on Churchill
Downs itself! The patrol craft attacked the spaceport while the fighters
strafed the area around the Defense Ministry. Meanwhile, a large group of
Hounds boiled out of the ground in the inner city, with Hunters following
them. A pitched battle soon raged over much of Churchill Downs.

The groups reacted in different ways. While Coro's pilots got to and
launched their ships, Ironside and the other Marines attempted to repel
the ground assault. Savant, meanwhile, was acting VERY strangely -- she
seemed to be assisting the attacking ships! She worked quickly to disable
the defenses around the spaceport, stunning Farley in the process. It
took the combined efforts of several of Coro's crew to incapacitate her as
the battle raged above, in, and around the city. Coro's fighters, working
with a Reorsan squadron, were able to quickly destroy the attacking
fighters, then turned their attention to close support of the Marines
fighting in the inner city. In the process, we learned that all of the
ships -- and possibly Savant as well -- had had their programming
compromised, probably by the Pfhor biosoftware virus. Once the city was
fully awakened to the attack, it was repulsed in fairly short order and
the Hunters attempted to retreat, only to be crushed between two groups of
Coro's Marines acting in concert under the Colonel's deft direction.

That left the patrol craft, which apparently decided on a kamikaze run
into the city center. It arced high above the city on impulse engines,
then turned straight down. This path guaranteed that simply destroying
the craft would rain debris over much of the city. The Marines, Spectres,
and Wraiths were forced to use an unorthodox combination of deflection
attacks, tractor beams, and ramming to force the patrol craft off course.
It plunged into a nearby bay, sending a wave that washed over the beaches
facing one side of the city. Though the attack was repulsed, the question
of how to protect our programming from the biosoftware virus remains... as
well as the question of curing Savant of the infection...
