Notes from the Captain:
OK, back to short sim summaries for a while! Tonight's report is long
because I (almost) caught up with six weeks worth of promotions and
recognitions this week. ;-) We also had ourselves a bit of a crew
shuffle that will better represent the fact that Coro isn't going to be
flying for a while...
Most important, Masters aka Major Thomas Wayne, moves from Wing Leader of
the Thundercats to Squadron Leader for our Wraith Squadron, the "Raptors"!
With Coro out of action for a while, the Wraiths will be our primary way
of getting around if we have to get around. ;-)
In addition, 2nd Lieutenant Jacob Prescot has moved to Company Commander
Alfa aboard Coro. This leaves both Wing Leader positions open. Our two
new Wing Leaders both joined us for this week's sim. 1st Lieutenant Craig
Serrold takes over as Wing Leader for the Thunderbirds, 2nd Lieutenant
Andrew Stylus for the Thundercats! Craig Serrold is known to most of you
as Aggie, formerly our acting Chief Medical Officer. Andrew Stylus goes
by the nick Jade^Falcon, and is a frequent Coro observer that seems to
have caught observer's disease and joined up. ;-) Welcome and I hope you
enjoy your new postings!
Remember, a very detailed map of the part of M64 Coro finds herself in is
available for your review at:
http://www.jestertrek.com/m64/
Coro's current position is the Reor system, which you'll find in Grid
004 next to the smaller of the two nebulae on the main map. Of course, if
you don't know where Reor is by now, you're probably not paying any
attention to the map... ;-)
Sim Title: "Boot Camp", Part 1
Teaser and Pre-Sim:
-------------------
Coronado has been left crippled by the Pfhor beam attack in the Battle of
Pitstop 3. We have been told that it will be months before the frigate
flies again, even assuming her massive damage can be repaired in M64 at
all. While Pearl returned to the Pitstop system and settled in for this
long job, Coro's crew returned to Reorsa. The Reor system was also
attacked by the Pfhor, and thousands were killed in their bombardment of
Churchill Downs and Fisher's Landing. In addition, U.S.S. Gryphon was
also crippled in the Reor system. In exchange for the devastation in the
two systems, we theoretically have a new ally: the Apori. However, to
date, thanks to their incredibly complex language and rabid emotionalism,
we haven't had a meaningful conversation with them...
During the Sim:
---------------
The crew gathered for the funeral of Lieutenant Ungtae Brie, killed in
action during the Battle for Pitstop 3. Her death is doubly tragic,
because she had only recently thrown off the pagh-wraith possession that
had been plaguing her for weeks. The funeral took place on a forested
hillside overlooking the city of Churchill Downs on Reorsa. Though
several Bajoran Prylars were in attendance, the primary eulogy was
delivered by Commander Olme Tlaloco, who spoke in warm terms of Brie's
eternal spirit. The Captain asked all present to remember her as she was
free of the possession which tormented her final weeks. The Prylars then
committed the young woman's body to the earth of Reor.
As the gathering broke up, the Captain confided in Colonel Ironside that
during the battle near Reorsa space, Pfhor troop transports attempted to
land on the planet surface. While two of them were destroyed, at least
three survived to land and off-load troops. As a result, there could be
1500 or more guerilla soldiers of the Pfhor Hegemony on the surface of
Reorsa. Lora Kor instructed Ironside that Coro's full officer corps
should be trained in the use of Marine weapons, tactics, and if feasible,
heavy equipment. The Colonel stated that he would get started
immediately and began coordinating his efforts with Commander Daren.
However, this conversation and many others were interrupted when shots
from some kind of plasma rifle rained down on the gathering! It seemed
that no sooner had the Captain warned of guerilla attacks on Reorsa that
several snipers took the opportunity inherent in a large unarmed gathering
of Starfleet personnel to attack some of them. While the snipers remained
in cover, several burrowing snake-like creatures also attacked. These
were similar to those that the team that rescued the Kioth mining colony
several weeks ago encountered. While half the gathering sought cover or
repulsed the attacks of the armored snake-creatures, the other half
headed for a nearby hillside where the plasma shots originated.
Two of the burrowing snake creatures were killed by Coronado personnel.
Savant managed to render one of the snake-creatures unconscious and with
the help of a wing of Spectres from the nearby spaceport at Fisher's
Landing, three of the four snipers nearby were killed. While the rest of
the snake creatures burrowed back underground, Lieutenant Marcy and
Colonel Ironside, working together with others, were able to successfully
capture an injured but living sniper. The sniper was of a species we have
not yet encountered, but looked somewhat like a gargoyle, tall and with
armored grey skin. The Coronado officers regrouped, collected their
prisoners, and fell back to Fisher's Landing to find that the city had
also been attacked, presumbly by more of the guerilla soldiers.

Promotions:
Jason Thompson, from Ensign to Lieutenant (JG)
Last promotion date: 27-Aug-01, 10 sims
Thompson has proven himself an outstanding officer and an asset
to U.S.S. Coronado. His simming and role-playing skills are
particularly good! Keep up the good work, Lieutenant!
Recognitions:
Bronze Star for Valor
Lieutenant Jack C. Farley
Following the Pfhor beam attack which crippled U.S.S. Coronado,
Lieutenant Farley had only seconds to make critical, life-and-
death decisions regarding the immediate fate of the frigate.
Farley's decisions were dead-on, and resulted directly in the
saving of the ship and the lives of everyone on board.

Exchange of the Week: I don't wanna know. I don't wanna know. I don't...
<CROP_Tlaloco> please enter it into your report. They're definitely
edible. Now let's see if they are intelligent.
<CROP_Tlaloco> bugs taste better than people, lieutenant.
<LJSI_KathHammond> Oh, thanks, we eat sentient worms for breakfast
<LJSI_KathHammond> I wouldnt know if bugs are tasiter I have never eaten
a person
<ENtc_Goncalves> ::runs thought the field and stops near Thaloco::
<CROP_Tlaloco> hey, when life hands you a lemon..
<Savant> ::Savant stands up on unstable legs, the worm twisting and
snaking about in her grasp:: Does anyone have a phaser set on stun here?
<CROP_Tlaloco> Goncalves. What do you think. Signs of intelligent
behavior?
<ENtc_Goncalves> Absolutelly... I have 90% of certain.
<CROP_Tlaloco> theyre mighty tasty, though.
