In an explosion of light and color, U.S.S. Resolute dropped out of
slipstream and roared down into orbit of Reorsa. Several of the Reorsan
fightercraft attempted to give the Defiant II class ship an escort, but
Resolute avoided all of these attempts long enough to deploy two shuttlepods
toward the surface. Resolute made one more high, fast orbit at full impulse
power, something that would have been impossible for a larger starship, then
arced back into the slipstream, bound for the Gateway system.

At no point did Resolute contact Coronado, or even send her Captain's
respects.

The fightercraft had much more success in escorting the two shuttlepods as
they dove into Reorsa's thick atmoshpere... for all the good it did them.
Ten minutes later, the two pods were sitting on either side of the fountain
in Government Square, and the fighters were climbing back into orbit. A
male human, a female human, a male Dekoran, and a male who looked human but
had a prosthetic arm hurried into the main government offices, leaving the
shuttlepods and their pilots behind. Onlookers gathered to get a closer
look at the advanced shuttles.

Meanwhile, aboard Coronado, Commander Daren's calls to the Captain went
unanswered. Daren now had conclusive proof that the original Churchill
survivors had violated the Prime Directive in helping the braids advance
their technology. However, he couldn't just broadcast that in the clear;
he'd hesitate even about sending the information to Lora Kor's combadge.

Hours passed. Shore leave parties returned to the ship; others left the
ship. Those that returned were enthusiastic about the planet's amenities...
how friendly everyone had been... how accomodating and eager to please. A
few questions toward each group established the fact that yes, the braids
seemed very deferential to their guests from Coronado and to the Churchill
descendants... and a few troubled looks at the realization. However, noone
could report that the braids were enslaved, or even that the Churchill
descendants expected them to be deferential. "I wish half the species back
home were so eager to please," a Specialist 1st Class in one group had
summed it up, and many aboard Coro seemed to agree with her.

The shuttlepod pilots, growing frustrated and being watched by hundreds of
curious Reorsans, finally contacted Coronado and requested permission to
dock their craft aboard the frigate and get some sleep. Permission was
granted.

When the Captain finally did call late into the region's night, it was to
tell Commander Daren that he'd be staying on the planet surface overnight,
despite the fact that Coronado was less than 15 minutes away by Reorsan
transport. And when Commander Daren, exasperated, made it clear that the
Churchill survivors had violated the Prime Directive, the Captain's response
had been simple and somewhat chilling:

"Yes, I know. We're talking it over with them right now. I'll call you
tomorrow, Commander. Lora Kor out."
