Notes from the Captain:
Took us a bit to get into the groove this week, but that's probably my
fault as I had to pass a lot of information along to the "guests."
Thank you to everyone who played the Away team from U.S.S. Churchill!
We'll be continuing our conversation with the folks from Reorsa next
week, so I hope to see you there!

We're currently just "north" of the large yellow star north of Gateway.
To interpret this picture: Gateway is the red giant star we entered M64
nearby. Each square on this graphic represents a sector: an area of
space approximately 20 light-years on a side. For simplicity, this is a
2D drawing; assume that anything not shown is not important. ;-) The
colors of stars on the drawing represents the color of the star if we
visit it. Orange and yellow stars have the best chance of supporting
"life as we know it." The size of each star indicates the mass of things
in orbit. Larger dots are stars that have more mass in orbit -- planets
or other massive objects, in other words. The Gateway system has a
hypergate in orbit; other systems with hypergates would appear roughly
that same size on this or future drawings. However, we're not picking
up any other neutronium objects on this scan.
The six largest yellow star markers are the systems most likely to have
class M planets in orbit. The large yellow/white mass in the top center
is a very large, high energy nebula of some kind. As we do more
exploring, I'll be sending out other pictures like this one. :-)
Sim Title: "A Friendly Face in a Distant Place", Part 1
Coro picked up a badly-cloaked ship north of the type G0 yellow star
that we have designated the "Pitstop" system. After seeing to the
safety of Pearl, Odyssey, their support ships and guards, a repair
team then saw to work on our own hull. After six hours and using the
raw materials we collected from Pitstop's asteroid belt, repair teams
completed the work on the outer hull. Coro then left Pitstop to
intercept the craft.
Closing to short range sensor distance, we were quickly able to
determine several bits of information about the ship, despite the cloak
they were using. The ship's mass was about 400,000 tonnes, and was
constructed of duranium and toranium alloys. Interior scans revealed a
crew of about 250 and found evidence that the ship was using both
subspace dampeners and standard warp drive. The combination of this
and other data quickly brought the Bridge officers to the realization
that we had probably found the ship that launched the Starfleet probe
we found a few weeks ago. The Captain ordered that Coronado drop her
ECM defenses and transmit a full Starfleet ID signal. A moment later,
the other ship transmitted one in return, identifying herself as U.S.S.
Churchill, NCC-2713. Starfleet records indicate that Churchill was
reported missing, presumed lost in 2286... 115 years ago.
Soon after transmitting her ID, Churchill dropped her primitive cloak
to reveal the ship... a Victory class cruiser based on earlier refit
Constitution designs. The major differences between the Victory class
and the upgraded Constitution class are that the Victory has a larger,
enhanced saucer and a somewhat thicker neck section. The ship hailed
us, informing us that someone named "Warren MacDonald" was "master of
the Churchill" and asking us if we were from the Federation. Somewhat
non-plussed, the Captain responded in the affirmative... which set off
an emotional scene aboard Churchill, including cheering, screams of
joy, and hugs. Apparently, those aboard Churchill had been hoping to
encounter more Federation ships at some point.
The Captain invited a group from Churchill on board Coronado and met
them in the observation lounge. After briefly sketching what Coro is
doing in M64 and explaining the situation Task Group 5.4 was in, the
personnel from Churchill were somewhat upset, but not crushed. They
then proceeded to tell us something of their situation. Apparently,
Churchill's crew settled on a class M planet in the "Reor" system north
of us not long after being trapped in M64 in 2286. There are now about
35,000 humanoids living on the planet Reorsa, including second, third,
fourth, and even a few fifth generation Churchill survivors. We were
also informed that Reorsa is the homeworld of a sentient species that
the Mr. MacDonald called "braids." The braids are actually a communal
lifeform, made up of up to a dozen smaller dog-size creatures nicknamed
"cords." There are millions of braids on Reorsa along with the
Churchill colony.
After learning this and other information, the Captain asked for
permission for Coro to follow Churchill back to Reorsa. Though the
Churchill group was somewhat hesitant, we received permission and set
course for the Reor system.
