Notes from the Captain:
Lt. JG Norton Cavanaugh (aka Trooman) has let me know that he may need to
go on an extended LOA for real life reasons. I have placed him on this
LOA for the time being so that he can take the next few weeks to decide
how he wants to organize his time. I very much hope he'll continue to be
able to make the Coronado sim! :-)
We've had several applications over the last few days, and I will look
forward to seeing if some of these applications turn into actual simmers.
;-) As most of you know, next week we go from fighting Klingons to
fighting Romulans... let's see if we can earn a few more silhouettes for
the wardroom hull. ;-)
Sim Title: "Manila Harbor", Part 3
Coronado monitored a pitched battle in the area of Starbase 23. Though a
Federation defeat, it did have one important effect: the Klingon lines in
the area thinned markedly -- enough for us to make a break for our side of
the front lines. We recalled the team aboard Kelaka, and after disguising
ourselves as a Klingon repair tender and using a captured KDF transponder,
joined the tail end of a Klingon support fleet. On the way, we were able
to monitor much of the Klingon's resupply plans in this area.
Unfortunately, our holographic defenses were never intended to run this
long, and unbenownst to us, one of the emitters began to fail.
During our run to the area of Starbase 23, we were able to make contact
with U.S.S. Vanguard, who sent us a little help in the form of Sandra
Nouveau, one of their engineers, as well as some additional supplies.
Vanguard also promised to be nearby when we made our run for the front
lines. However, Captain Lora Kor was unwilling to simply make a run for
it, and decided to use our position to advantage one last time. We set
course for a rear-echelon repair and supply area that the Klingon Defense
Force had set up behind front lines. Continuing to disguise ourselves as
a repair tender, our plan was to make one last submarine-style attack on
Klingon shipping as a prelude to our run for the border.
In the meantime, some personal matters came up. Most of the crew was
unaware of this, but Sandra Nouveau, in addition to being an engineer, is
also Zunite Oswald's mother. Sandra had come aboard to tell Zunite the
truth about her upbringing. Though Zunite has always believed that the
man that she grew up with was her father, Sandra revealed that her true
biological father is our own Colonel Jeremy Ironside... The shocking
news was moderated by a bit of good news: Commander Fornan Dejat took the
opportunity to propose marriage to the young Lieutenant. Needless to
say, our Chief Engineer had a busy week...
Coronado arrived at the Klingon repair point just in time for her
holographic defenses to fail... the Klingons easily detected the frigate,
but not before Coro could cut a bloody swath through the already damaged
ships gathered in the area. Coro launched her fighters, then made two
passes through the area, destroying five already-damaged ships and three
resupply ships. The Spectres made their own contributions to the
carnage, especially when the Captain ordered the pilots beamed off the
fighters and the Spectres were used as kamikaze weapons. After her
second pass, Coro ran toward the front lines at slipstream, where
Vanguard and three Akira class cruisers had set up a fighter wall to
defend our crossing. Unwilling to commit to battle where their forces
are relatively thin, the Klingons did not engage us. Coro is now docked
at a mobile repair facility, undergoing repairs.
