 Notes from the Captain:

Bad news first this week: very briefly our Company Commander, Senn
Hawkens has elected to transfer back to the Nimitz. I wish Mr. Hawkens
the best of luck, and just maybe, he'll try out another Coro sim sometime
 soon. ;-)

The good news was that we had a very enjoyable, low key sim this week!
Despite the obvious tactical situation we find ourselves in, the sim
focused a lot more on character action than on weapons fire, with
explosions getting only about five minutes of screen time this week. ;-)
Keep up the good work, and the good role-playing!

Sim Title: "Manila Harbor", Part 2

Coro continues to be trapped behind the Klingon front lines; we are near
the Yola system, trying to make it to Alphosa, which we have determined
has not yet come under attack and probably has a Starfleet defensive force
nearby. Unfortunately, there are at least two Klingon battle groups in
our immediate area, as well as other Klingon ships moving through nearby
space. As a result, we are having to proceed cautiously, using Coro's
full defensive suite. While proceeding "north" toward the Triangle where
the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan borders converge, we used the
superior range of our LORASON sensors to ambush and destroy a small
convoy, but later fell under attack ourselves. As a result, we are
currently hiding in an uninhabited red giant system with no planets, but
a large asteroid belt. Using our holographic defenses, we have been
running at minimum power, observing EMCON, and imitating an asteroid
until we can complete repairs and leave the system. The Captain has been
using the time to study submarine tactics used on Earth during WWII.

While the engineering teams on Coro finish the repairs, Commander Bentall
led an away team aboard Kelaka, the goal of which is to find a way across
the front lines without attracting attention. Using the small ship's
defenses to imitate a Klingon scout, Kelaka is currently proceeding toward
the front lines. On the way, they were contacted by the Starfleet ship
U.S.S. Vanguard, which both relayed the locations of several Starfleet
groups in the area we're heading for, and requested a rendezvous, or at
least a way to get someone aboard Coronado. The commander of the ship,
Rear Admiral Todd Marshall, will contact us as we get closer to the lines.

In the meantime, EVA teams working on Coronado's port nacelle damage
reentered the ship, having repaired that damage. While the ship is not out
of the woods yet, at least we were once again able to manuever at warp.
While investigating passive scans of the area from CIC, the Captain
identified a heavily damaged Klingon heavy cruiser pulling back from the
front lines, under repair by a pair of tenders. While Colonel Ironside
analyzed the ship from the Tactical Analysis Lab, the Captain took the
risk of a LORASON pulse to build a detailed holographic image of the
repair tenders. Seeing the cruiser as a prime target for stealth attack,
Lora Kor ordered the holographic matrix for the tender loaded into our own
holographic defense system, in effect making us indistinguishable from the
Klingon repair ships. Savant's matrix was modified to appear Klingon, and
she was able to bluff us close enough to the crippled cruiser to finish it
off by beaming antimatter mines aboard. We then finished off the tenders,
redisguised ourselves as debris, and left the area at slow impulse. With
any luck at all, the Klingons will conclude the ship was destroyed in an
 accidental warp core overload.

 Promotions:
Olmeoaxaca Tlaloco, from Lt. Commander (SCPO) to Commander (MCPO)
Last promotion date: 08-May-00, 30 sims (inc. one double-length)
To say that Chief Tlaloco has been a terrific addition to Coro's
roster would be understating the case by a great deal. He is an
outstanding role-player and simmer! IC, Tlaloco's promotion is
from Senior Chief to Master Chief Petty Officer. For purposes
of UCIP, his new rank is Commander. Well done, Reverend!

 Recognitions:

Exchange of the Week: Here kid... the first one's free. ;-)
<cmcb_Tlaloco> MB>::Withdraws an odd, red cylinder:: How are you with
 Farengi data storage?
<Savant> MB> ::smiles widely:: I've burned more Ferengi security
barriers than anyone in Intelligence, apparently
 <Savant> MB> i'm the program that proverbially eats'em for breakfast ^_^
<cmcb_Tlaloco> MB>And all this time you had one right under your virtual
 nose.
 * Savant grins impishly
<Savant> MB> well, it isn't connected to anything, and you haven't got a
subspace reciever on it... technically, i can barely see it
<cmcb_Tlaloco> MB>Well, it's pretty fancy holobio tech. But it wouldn't
work with the restraints on. It simulates a whole pleasure center, phermones,
 warm fuzzies, you name it.
<Savant> MB>can i see it, will you hook it into the ODN?
<cmcb_Tlaloco> MB> I could, but you'd have to lower your shields.
 <cmcb_Tlaloco> MB>Emotional shields, that is.
<Savant> MB> a trade? lower my moderative layer to see the data?
 * Savant grins widely, "you sly dog... fine, it's a deal then"
<cmcb_Tlaloco> MB>It is designed with borg technology. As soon as you
understand it, it adapts, so you never quite understand it.
