Notes from the Captain:
My sincere congratulations, everyone! I've just reread the log of this
week's sim, and I think we had ourselves a *terrific* character
interaction and development sim. Well done! Anybody who thinks that IRC
sims are no good for character work clearly has never simmed on Coro. ;-)
Keep up the outstanding work!
Unfortunately, I have little choice but to declare 2nd Lieutenant Natalia
Petrovna Missing In Action. :-/ Not my first choice, but she's missed
six sims in a row now...
Sim Title: "Turnabout is Fair Play", Part 2
Coronado is still docked in M.R.F. Pearl, undergoing repairs following our
extended stay behind Klingon lines. We're also in the process of working
on a new weapons system: four corvette-class ships called "Wraith
Liberators." The new ships use a computer-based weapon to knock out the
control systems on ships that they are used against... theoretically. It
is still not known if the new ships will work, and Lieutenant Oswald led
an extensive engineering and evaluation team to the ships to attempt to
go over their specifications and work out some of the problems that were
reported in preliminary testing. The engineering teams have their jobs
cut out for them: the Wraiths were constructed in a rush, and are flaky.
Meanwhile, Commander Bentall, Commander Daren, and Lt. Colonel Ironside
speculated about what target the Wraiths might be used against. Pulling
up the latest reports from the front, they went over each potential
target. The two most likely appear to be Romulan ships in the Alpha
Eridani system or Klingon ships in the Yadalla system. All of them
seemed to agree that capturing a Romulan ship would do more for the war
effort... but all *also* agreed that it would be much more difficult than
capturing a Klingon ship. The Captain spent much of this time roaming
the ship, including paying a visit to Sickbay, where he informed Ensign
Ungtae that with Doctor Dalton off the ship for an intended period, the
Bajoran woman is now the acting Chief Medical Officer. While in Sickbay,
the Captain also noted something extremely odd about Master Chief
Tlaloco's behavior and ordered the new acting CMO to give him a full
medical workup.
The Captain arrived on the Bridge, relieving Commander Bentall and
filling him in on the proposed target: there are more than 100 of the
Romulan's newest destroyers participating in the attack on Alpha Eridani,
"Eternity." Coro's job is to capture one of them. To that end, the
chief Wraith test pilot, Lieutenant Clayton, is spending time with
Lt. Major Wayne and Commanders Dejat and Daren, teaching them everything
there is to know about the compact starships.
With Savant and Doctor Ungtae seeing to the Master Chief in Sickbay, the
Captain turned his attention to the Bridge officers... in particular to
a "negotiation" of sorts with Colonel Ironside. After reviewing the
mission parameters, the Captain realized that the Marines are going to
have to beam to the capture target directly from the Wraiths since Coro
does not have any effective way to hide herself from Romulan sensors.
To make things even more dangerous, each Wraith can only accomodate 36
personnel... less than the 240 Marines that are called for in the
operational plan. The Captain advocates placing 180 of the Marines into
transporter stasis for the 15 minutes each Wraith will need to make its
approach. After reviewing the math, the Colonel reluctantly agreed...
