Notes from the Captain:

Not one, but two new simmers to welcome this week! Lieutenant Kathryn
Janeway has until recently been the Chief Science Officer aboard the
U.S.S. Melbourne. Due to time constraints on Sunday nights, she chose to
join us here on Coronado! Coro's always had good luck with our science
officers, and I'm sure Lieutenant Janeway will be no exception. Welcome!

Also joining us this week as a brand new member of UCIP is Cadet Kariasa
Ma'Aru, who will be Coro's new Intelligence Officer. With the war raging,
we're definitely going to need her talents to keep us all up to date on
what's going on. Welcome aboard, Cadet!

Sim Title: "Turnabout is Fair Play", Part 1

After our lengthy stay behind Klingon lines, Coro was due some repairs and
the crew a few days off from the war. We are currently near Starbase 23,
on the front lines of the southern Klingon advance, which seems to have
been successfully halted. In the interim, there are many Starfleet ships
in the area, including Coro, who have been damaged in the first six weeks
of the war. We are docked in Mobile Repair Facility Pearl undergoing
repairs, with much of two Starfleet fleets around us undergoing repairs
themselves. A number of Pearl engineers came aboard Coro to assist our
Engineering teams in repairs to the ship.

Pilots including Rear Admiral Todd Marshall of the U.S.S. Vanguard,
brought aboard a new flight of second-generation Spectre class fighters
for our Thunderbirds and Thundercats flight wings. The new generation
Spectre loses two meters in length and is much more maneuverable than the
previous version. Major Wayne started the process of getting his pilots
up to speed on the new birds. Meanwhile, the Captain warned the Bridge
of an upcoming test... in time for all of Coro's computer based systems
to lose timing and shut down. A small ship, attached to the aft saucer,
then decloaked and the ship's pilot, Lieutenant Clayton beamed aboard.
The small ships, called "Wraiths" were apparently built in part to deploy
a new computer-based weapon that it is hoped can be used to good effect
against Romulan or Klingon ships, or both. Meanwhile, the Captain met
with Dr. Dalton, who is apparently escaping Coro to Alpha Centauri until
the end of the war, feeling it unsafe to remain aboard.

The Captain called the senior staff into a briefing, and while the junior
officers saw to the Coro (a new saucer module was docked to fuel the
Wraiths) or saw to the Wraiths themselves, the senior staff learned a bit
about Coro's next mission. We have been ordered to give the Wraiths
their first combat test, and have been given a fairly free hand as to the
target and situation. The senior officers settled down to debate the
merits of the new ship and how best to apply it. Most seemed to agree
that the best use of this new technology would be to even the gap between
Starfleet and the Romulans by capturing an advanced Romulan ship...
