 Notes from the Captain:

Another very solid sim! Sorry to cut it off a bit early, but I want to
run these two weeks in as close to "real-time" as possible, and that
means keeping the big finish in part 3. ;-) You'll also learn what
Kelaka and her crew found at the start of next week's sim.

In the meantime, I'm going to make another plea for updated bios. If you
haven't yet done one, do one! I need more detailed bios from the
 following people:

 Lt. Jack C. Farley
 Lt. Aramis Skylooker
 Lt. Kathryn Janeway
 Ens. Kariasa Ma'Aru

More background information would be good for the bios of the following
 people:

 Lt. Commander Zunite Oswald
 Major Thomas Wayne

You guys have been running these characters long enough now that you
should have some very detailed backstories for them. Daren, I have
yours and it's excellent work; thanks!!

 See you next week!

Sim Title: "Fiat Lux", Part 2

Coronado and the rest of Task Group 5.4 are still trapped, blockaded into
the area near the blue-white supergiant Hayashi. Outside the system, at
least 15 Romulan ships of various types are keeping up a steady stream of
fire into the radiation clouds just outside the system. In addition, a
constant patrol of Romulan L'Bel class bombers pinpoints any ship that
attempts to make a break out of the system. With the damage to most of
our ships ranging from moderate to severe, and the shield damage that has
been inflicted on us by the radiation near Hayashi, we cannot risk a
direct confrontation with the Romulan ships. However, we have to do
something: Hayashi is in an unstable pre-nova state and the Romulan
flagship launched some sort of trilithium weapon into orbit of the star.
He has communicated with us, telling us that he will induce a premature
nova in Hayashi if we do not surrender our captured Romulan destroyer.
His other demands do not bear thinking about.

Therefore, while the task group masses, we wait for the arrival of another
Starfleet group that is en route. In the meantime, several ships launched
runabout-size craft in an attempt to find a hole in the blockade or
otherwise find a way out of the trap. Coronado's contribution to this
search was Kelaka, which Commander Dejat took down closer to the star in
order to investigate the Romulan weapon. Unfortunately, the weapon was
orbiting barely a million kilometers from Hayashi and when it was
approached, dove even closer to the inferno. Determined to do something
about the weapon, Dejat took Kelaka down with it. The Romulans did not
take this lying down, and launched several wings of bombers to harrass the
runabouts, both Kelaka and others launched from other ships. The bombers
were successful in driving most of the runabouts back to their home ships
where they docked. Kelaka and another runabout, Churchill, were
successful in disabling two of the bombers, but the remainder kept up
their harrassing attacks even as Kelaka dove nearly into Hayashi's corona.

Meanwhile, aboard Coronado, Savant and the Engineering team struggled to
keep Coro up and operational through the radiation storm that the battle
below was igniting further from the star. In addition, Coro and several
other task group ships incurred attacks from wings of bombers conducting
hit-and-run raids. While dodging the attacks, the Captain and Colonel
Ironside debated what the Romulan Commander's goals might be.

While Commander Dejat did manage to bring Kelaka into close formation with
the Romulan weapon, Ensign Ma'Aru warned that tractoring it would probably
be ineffective and Dr. Ungtae fairly screamed at him to pull up due to the
excessive radiation exposure inside the cabin. Undeterred and almost
obsessive, Dejat engaged the tractor beam and managed to affect the
weapon's course... unfortunately, the effect was to turn its stable orbit
into a ballistic trajectory. With only minutes until the weapon impacts,
Kelaka was driven to a more sane distance from the star, where Ensign
Ma'Aru picked up a massive gravimetric distortion on Kelaka's sensors.
While the task group panicked and set up for a likely-suicidal end-run out
of the system, Kelaka moved in to investigate...

 Promotions:
Aramis Skylooker, from Lieutenant (JG) to Lieutenant
Last promotion date: 04-Dec-00, 12 sims (inc. two double-length)
Lieutenant Skylooker has been a fine simmer and a very good
addition to Coro's engineering team! Engineering in general
tends to be a bit of a thankless job, but Skylooker does it
without complaint, role-playing well with the rest of the
Engineering staff. Keep up the good work, Sky!

 Recognitions:
    Starfleet Commendation Ribbon
IC recognition for excellent character development role-playing:
Lt. Colonel Jeremy Ironside (aka Fraser)
Lt. Commander Zunite Oswald (aka Sonya)
    Technical Excellence Medal
For his outstanding work assisting with the flight preparation of
       Coronado's four Wraith class Corvettes:
          Lt. Aramis Skylooker

 Academy Completions:
None this week (Get out there and take a class!)

Exchange of the Week: A bit of post-sim levity. ;-)
<LJDR_Ungtae> Can I have a seperate service from Commander Dejat? Don't
want to mix Bajoran and Cardassian funerals, after all.
 <[LCEN_Oswald]> hehehe
 <FCCO_LoraKor> LOL! Makes sense. ;)
 <MoLiu> lol
<Savant> ooh, yeah.. that's got to be bad karma
