Notes from the Captain:

As those who have been with me for a while know, I've been wanting to
do a fantasy Coro sim for a while. When Daren brought it up in the
post-sim convo last week, I knew this sim was well-timed. ;) I hope
everyone enjoys it; let's hope we don't screw it up. ::chuckles::

Heiwa, aka Dr. Dalton, will be taking a rather lengthy LOA. :/ For
some strange reason, he decided that his real life education was...
and I find this hard to credit... more important than simming. Now
that you've gotten over your shock at this abomination, I'll finish by
saying at least he's taking something useful: a creative writing class.
He'll be intermittent until the class ends sometime this spring/summer.

Sim Title: "Anachronism", Part 1

Captain Tebrun Lora Kor has ordered Coronado to the vicinity of Starbase
23. There, we are to rendezvous with Ka'tek vestai-Kharas, a former
member of the Klingon High Council. Coro was instrumental in seeing to
it that Ka'tek was able to take his seat last year, but apparently he is
no longer on the Council and is on the run with information that he says
is vital to the survival of the Federation. The Captain was extremely
agitated following his conversation with Ka'tek; according to Lora Kor,
he has never seen Ka'tek frightened before. If Ka'tek is frightened of
the information he carries, it must be very bad news indeed.

Nearing Starbase 23, Coro picked up a distress call on a narrow-band
Klingon frequency. We diverted the ship to follow the course of the call,
and encountered an extremely violent, disruptive nebula. Within the
nebula, sensors, communications, shields, and transporters would be
useless or near-useless. Even worse, there was evidence that some sort of
battle had taken place just outside the nebula within the last hour --
likely the cause of Ka'tek's distress call. Going to battle stations and
deploying Spectres, the Coronado entered the nebula to search for him.
Within the nebula, the ships had to remain in close formation to avoid
becoming separated and lost.

Probing deeper into the nebula, we eventually encountered a "clearing"
of sorts -- an area of the nebula that has been swept clean by the
passage of planets orbiting a small yellow star. One of the planets in
the system is class M, and we were able to track an ion trail consistent
with a Klingon impulse drive. In orbit of the planet, we discovered a
debris cloud the the approximate mass of a B'rel class Bird of Prey, and
an ion trail leading down to the surface to a crash site. Near the
crash site was a Renaissance-era city. Sending the Spectres down to
investigate, we have discovered a primitive humanoid civilization. As we
were pondering how to get Ka'tek back to the ship without sensors or
transporters, a dragon -- as if straight out of a fantasy story --
appeared and attacked the Spectres, downing two of them!
