Notes from the Captain:
Welcome to 2001, everyone! It was great to see everyone at the sim again!
Hopefully, everyone enjoyed their holidays. :) Let's make 2001 as
exciting a year for Coro as 2001 was!
Unfortunately, Lt. Aurel Ian has elected to transfer to the U.S.S.
Warrior. The officers and crew of the Coronado wish her the best of
luck and hope she will enjoy her new assignment!!
Sim Title: "Regression", Part 1
Coronado finally managed to complete her run to the Wormwood system,
dropping off the ordnance and supplies that she had been carrying for Task
Group 5.4. The majority of the Task Group will be remaining in that
system to continue monitoring the inactive hypergate in that system and
the active gate in the nearby Brimstone system. Meanwhile, Coro herself
has been ordered to Starbase 75. There, we are expected to pick up two
"planning delegations" from the T'Keni and Elnar homeworlds. The two
delegations have been planning a joint summit for these two races to be
held on the neutral planet Drea 6. Coro has been ordered to pick up the
delegations and ferry them to the Drea 6 conference.
The T'Keni and Elnar have been at war for several decades, mostly
regarding territorial rights. Both races developed in the same system,
but the T'Keni have been much more outgoing and have developed their
technology much more quickly. The Elnar, by contrast, have been
developing much more slowly, but do have expertise in biological and
agricultural sciences. The war erupted because the T'Keni accuse the
Elnar of terrorist attacks and theivery on their planet. The Elnar accuse
the T'Keni of invading their homeworld, and in fact there is a strong
T'Keni contingent on the Elnar planet. It is hoped that the diplomatic
conference will lead to a peace treaty between the two planets.
Coro picked up both delegations without incident; however, soon after they
came aboard, unusual things began happening. First, these things seemed
very minor -- several officers forgot recent promotions that other members
of the crew had received and began calling these officers by their old
ranks. Others forgot recent conversations. The Captain seemed the most
seriously affected -- at first, he suffered minor memory loss, but later,
seemed to forget his name, ship and position... and insisted his name was
Captain Varani Kor! Varani is the Kor symbiont's last host. Even worse,
the T'Keni and Elnar delegations seem to have forgotten their work, and
erupted from their quarters and began fighting amongst themselves; the
senior member of the T'Keni delegation was killed by the Elnar...
