Notes from the Captain:

An odd little sim, but one I hope you enjoyed! :)

Next week, we run Coro's second annual Halloween sim. This one's called
"In the Absense of Negative Proof" and it's something I wrote almost 10
years ago now, which will adapted for the Coro format. Let's see if it
works. Hope to see you there!

I have removed Cadet John Grimms from the roster for lack of attendance
over the last month. However, as I said, we'll be seeing a number of new
faces over the next couple of weeks! :)

Cadet Farley has been doing an outstanding job since joining
the Coronado sim four weeks ago. He is holding his own along

Sim Title: "Hypergate", Part 3

The Vulcan ambassador ship, bearing Ambassador Storn, arrived in the
Pandemonium system. Vice Admiral Aldur called a conference of the Task
Group ship Captains aboard the Stirling, which Captain Lora Kor flew the
Captain's Gig to the Stirling to attend. Once the meeting broke up, the
Gig returned to Coronado... with the Ambassador on board. The Captain
indicated that the Task Group would be getting under way soon, and that the
Sutherland should be prepared for depature. In the meantime, the Captain
piloted the Gig to the lifeform which Sutherland towed to the defensive
perimeter. The ambassador, in a spacesuit, then drifted down to the
lifeform, presumably to mindmeld with it.

Meanwhile, we learned a bit more about the "eggsacs" that were discovered
aboard the Sutherland, primarily that they aren't eggsacs at all, but
apparently the immature form of the large lifeforms the insectoids use to
prevent the hypergates from operating fully. In particular, when subjected
to matter rather than energy, they were found to grow rapidly, perhaps
somehow assimilating the matter and using it as a nutrient.

Once the mindmeld was complete, the Captain returned the Gig to Coro.
As he did, the Traxati launched another probe attack... one that the Task
Group apparently ignored. The Traxati ignored the Task Group in turn, and
attacked the lifeform left behind instead. The Traxati cut the lifeform
into hundreds of parts with a neutronium needle cloud... and those parts
were seen to grow, perhaps consuming the needles.

The Task Group escaped the destruction and proceeded to the Pandemonium
gate, where the Captain revealed the result of the meeting: Vice Admiral
Aldur has elected to do as much as possible to destroy the Pandemonium gate
so that the Traxati and their enemies cannot use it to hijack Starfleet and
other vessels in the region. Two ships were self-destructed to destroy the
lifeforms covering the gate, then a number of tri-cobalt devices were fired
from the Task Group ships to destroy the gravimetric drives. The Task
Group then passed through the gate and commenced doing the same to the
Wormwood gate. However, the Wormwood gate's spin speed will be slowed
before the drives are destroyed so that the gate cannot be used.
