Notes from the Captain:

A very involved, intricate sim tonight. I hope you all enjoyed it! I've
summed up exactly what the plan was below; sometimes, I like to throw
y'all into the plot without really explaining what's going on. It makes
for good role-playing, and it certainly did this week! Well dome!

As I mentioned, this week's sim focused on the Marines, Tactical, and
to a lesser extent, the fighters. Next week turns the sim on its end and
focuses on the opposite aspect of our mission: Engineering and Science,
primarily, although this week's setup of the fighters is going to pay off
next week... ;) I also doubt we're going to be allowed to just swoop in
and steal an insectoid... whatever it is... without SOME kind of response.

I just want to say, one more time: if you can't make the sim, please do
your best to let me know in advance. If you're not sure whether or not
you're going to make it, tell me that. Having a good list of who can and
can't make it allows me to start the sim on time for those that DO show
up. Thanks for your consideration!

Sim Title: "Hypergate", Part 1

On orders from the Fifth Fleet Commanding Officer, Coronado held her
position in the Wormwood system, awaiting the arrival of Fifth Fleet Task
Group 5.4. This group, headed up by the Eclipse class battlecruiser
U.S.S. Stirling, was gathered to conduct a reconnaissance in force of the
other side of the Wormwood hypergate. At first, though, the Coro
officers didn't know what was going on. All they saw were a number of
Starfleet tactical vessels entering the system at high impulse, and
calling for Coro to take up her position in the formation, head for the
hypergate. On the Captain's orders, the Coronado did so. The Captain
further informed the senior staff that Coro's role in the reconnaissance
was to provide LORASON data to the rest of the Task Group.

The Task Group proceeded through the Wormwood gate without incident,
deploying fighters and scouts in advance of her approach. Instead of
remaining in the area of the Traxati probes and their system, which has
been named Pandemonium, the group jumped to warp away from the system.
Five minutes out, the group came to a halt and established a defensive
perimeter, with fighters patrolling, looking for pursuit. Coro then began
a LORASON sweep of the new galaxy we found ourselves in.

While waiting for that data to come back, Stirling transmitted the prefix
code of the U.S.S. Sutherland, one of the captured Starfleet vessels in
orbit of Pandemonium. Taking control of the Sutherland, the ship was
ordered to take the nearby biological organism in tow and then run from
the system... straight toward the defensive perimeter. While Sutherland
was en route, technicians aboard Stirling remotely disabled her shields and
weapons systems, and activated the intruder defense system, since it was
assumed that the ship was controlled by the insectoids.

The assumption proved accurate. Marines from Coronado and our sister ship,
the Renegade, stormed the Sutherland once she arrived and took control of
her after a hard fought battle. In the meantime, Coro took possession of
the large biological mass with our own tractor beam. There was no
immediate sign of pursuit, but the Task Group's fighters were deployed back
to Pandemonium to begin a staggered patrol of the system. In the meantime,
we have a number of prizes: the Sutherland herself, the lifeform it was
guarding, Sutherland's close range scans of Pandemonium, and a number of
disabled insectoids to study. All in all, the recon was extremely
productive.
