Coronado Crew Update:
A nice wrap-up to what has been a very good series of sims! Well done to
everyone involved, and a big thank you to Raith for guesting with us for
so many weeks! :-) We start picking up the pieces next week, plus start
in on a bit of a mini plot. Only two weeks long, but juicy! >;-)
In addition, Cadet Patrick Maier (aka Caerdwyn) requested this week that
his character be retired. :-/ Sorry you won't be joining us for the sim,
Caerdwyn, but remember us if you change your mind! In addition, Cadet
Lieutenant Zunite Oswald requested and was granted a transfer to the
Starfleet Marine Corps under Major Ironside.

Sim Title: "Patriots in our Midst", Part 4
The SSS team returned safely to the Coronado, reporting a partial success
during their mission. They were able to succesfully wipe the memories of
the Romulan Commander and retrieve the data that she had stored on future
technology. They were also able to rescue the Senator! Unfortunately,
tr'Idran managed to escape in a running firefight back to his runabout and
back to the present. Coronado monitored the runabout's return to the
present but was unable to give chase since Commander Ragarok was still
unrecovered and presumed to be somewhere nearby.
Meanwhile, Commander Overdark confirmed the presence of a class K planetoid
that might be tr'Idran's local base, especially since we were detecting
unknown lifeforms from the planetoid. Playing a hunch that tr'Idran would
not have let Ragarok far out of his sight, he ordered Dejat to plot a
course. Arriving, we discovered three Ori escorts in orbit over a shielded
underground based guarded by 40 of the Ori. However, we were also able to
confirm the presense of Commander Ragarok in the facility. What was
needed was a plan to get close enough to rescue him.
Lieutenant Daren recommended the use of the holographic defense system in a
ruse -- if the Ori ships could be drawn away from the base, a Spectre
strike would be able to destroy the shield and allow a Marine strike team
to beam in, retrieve the Professor, and beam out. The plan, though a good
one, did not exactly unfold that way...
While the Ori were initially fooled by the holograms, we underestimated the
strength of the shield protecting the base, and it took several passes for
the Spectres to destroy it. In this time, the Ori returned to the planet
and attacked the Coronado, attempting to drive us out of orbit. Coro was
only able to survive thanks to her structural strength and judicious use of
atmospheric evasive maneuvers. The ship was heavily damaged, but the
Marines were successful -- Ragarok was rescued only moments before the Ori
could kill him out of spite. Coro escaped back to the present... but the
Professor had a depressing announcement: he plans to leave the Coronado!
