Coronado Crew Update:
A big thank you to everyone who arrived to sim despite the fact that it
was Memorial Day in the U.S.! :-) Those of you who didn't show but
forgot to tell me about it have been granted amnesty for this week... I of
all people know how hard it is to get in touch during the long holiday
weekends... hope to see you next week!

Sim Title: "Songbird", Part 1
Coronado successfully returned to the present. Unfortunately, the ship
suffered significant damage both during our mission and the aftermath. In
particular, slipstream propulsion is currently off-line, and there is
stress damage to both the hull and the impulse engines. Fortunately, we
returned to the present to find a significant Starfleet presense, including
the entire bulk of Fifth Fleet Task Group 5.5, guarding the border. The
task group also brought in the Mobile Repair Facility Pearl and her
associated tenders; Coro was given priority access to the facility for
her immediate needs.
The reason for the strong Starfleet presence in the region is the increased
activity of the Omega terrorist group. Starfleet has had run-ins with
Omega before, most notably during Admiral Za'Kal's failed coup. This time,
however, the group seems focused on the Romulans. It is not known whether
tr'Idran was involved with them. The combination of the unguarded Romulan
border and the Omega presence was troubling enough that civilian ships in
the area are jumping from one Starfleet group to the next for cover.
One of the damaged civilian ships was piloted by a Renak Taj, a Cardassian
and family friend of Fornan Dejat, Coro's Chief Flight Operations officer.
Taj was travelling with five stasis pods, one of which was severely damaged
-- its occupant later died. Taj himself was also injured; before Dr.
Barnes treated him, though, he and Dejat were able to catch up. Meanwhile,
Lieutenant Daren, somewhat suspicious of Taj, checked the stasis pods
themselves and found that each one was encoded, requiring a special code to
deactivate them and bring the occupants -- a Vulcan, a Bajoran, a Horta,
and an unknown female humanoid -- out of stasis. Without the code, it
would be impossible to bring them out. Even more troubling, a record of
past stasis events indicated that each time an occupant of the pod was
brought out of stasis, a financial transaction was associated with this
occurance...
