Notes from the Captain:
I'm baaaaaack! Thank you to everyone who sent me e-mails during my absense
and to everyone who made "Reflections" a big success for Alffred! :-)
I've made a couple of adjustments to the roster, mostly placing Lt. (JG)
Aurel Ian and Cadet Skylooker on the Leave of Absense list. Skylooker will
be back in a few weeks. I'm not as sure about Aurel...
This episode is a bit lighter than normal, our last humorous episode of
Coro's third year! Our third anniversary sim begins September 4th, with
one more episode between now and then.
Promotions:
None this week.
Recognitions:
None this week.
Academy Completions:
None this week.
Exchange of the Week: Ragarok's humor survives the grave quite nicely...
<Donal|KIA> RR> Holo> Greetings, Commander. If you are reading this, it
means I am deceased and have not taken the Coro with me.
<MJMC_Ironside> <<ROFL!!>>

Sim Title: "Patent Pending", Part 1
Following the successful return of the mission team, Coronado once again
launched from Starbase 247 following significant repairs and refitting to
the ship. The slipstream matrix is once again operational, and we have
been fitted with a new pair of engine nacelles. The new nacelles, in
addition to being more efficient at standard warp speeds, are also more
efficiently tuned for the slipstream environment. More modifications were
made to the crew support module, in the form of a pair of VIP/Flag quarters
being fitted out.
However, the most significant modification to the ship took place around
the main deflector. A new sensor array, called LORASON, was installed
there over the main deflector dish. The new sensor array operates on a
much more efficient energy transfer and transmission method, resulting in
a nearly three-fold increase in sensor range. Not only are standard
sensors now good out to 60 light-years, high-resolution scanning range has
also been increased, to 21 light-years. Coronado left starbase to test the
new modifications in a series of drills designed by Starfleet.
In the first of these drills, sensor resolution was tested, as well as
Coro's ability to respond to far-flung Threat activity. In the simulation,
a Federation patrol destroyer, the U.S.S. Artemis, was subjected to a
simulated attack by a theoretical Traxati warship. Though the Federation
has no idea what a Traxati starship might look like, a very convincing
possible design was incorporated into the simulation. Coronado detected
the threat and was able to coordinate the activities of far flung elements
in the test, including the Artemis, a number of sensor bouys, and Starbase
247 herself. What the Coro crew didn't know until the test was over was
that it WAS a test: a psychological evaluation of the crew in the event of
a Traxati engagement was also part of the simulation... something that
later annoyed the crew -- and the Captain -- no end.
