 If there's one thing that Omega is good at, it's piracy.

 Hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of times, the manta-shaped ships had streaked
 out of hiding to fall on unsuspecting prey.  Sometimes the hiding place was
 an ion storm, sometimes a gravimetric distortion, sometimes a nebula.  But
 invariably when the target spotted the Omega ships, they called for help.

 Sometimes the target was an unarmed freighter, sometimes a Federation
 transport, sometimes an unknown alien craft... sometimes, Omega even
 hijacked small Starfleet or Romulan vessels far from home.  Invariably, no
 matter the type of ship, they called for help.  The calls were rarely heard.

 If there's one thing that Omega is good at, it's piracy.

 And if there's one skill that assists a good pirate, it's the ability to
 block, dampen or disrupt a distress call.  Omega ships excel at this skill.

 So, when Coronado and her charges were caught unaware in the Dnoces system,
 they called for help from the nearby Enterprise.

 An almost bored Omega communications technician caught the transmission and
 using the natural disruption provided by the Dnoces system, damped it down
 until it was as quiet as a whisper in the vastness of space.  It might have
 propgated another two or three billion kilometers beyond that... but
 probably it didn't.

 After all, if there's one thing that Omega is good at, it's piracy.  They
 almost never get caught at it.
