 Notes from the Captain:

Nice job this week, everyone! :-) All in all, a very enjoyable sim! I
hope everyone enjoyed it. You might be interested to know that this was
the first time Coronado has fired weapons in anger since February... hard
to believe, but true... As I've said many times, I will be on vacation
 for the next two sims; Alffred will be running something special for you;
 don't miss it! :-)

After many weeks of patiently attempting to explain to Lt. TPrax what Coro
is all about, I'm afraid that I will be asking him to transfer off the
Coronado. I do not wish to go into my reasons here, but based on the
number of complaints that I have received regarding the Lieutenant's
conduct, I don't expect there will be much of a protest. I'm not proud of
this action -- in Coronado's three year history, I have never before asked
a simmer to stand down -- but TPrax's conduct was sullying the Coro's fine
reputation, something I simply will not have. I wish Mr. TPrax luck in his
future endeavors in UCIP, and I hope all of you will do the same.

::calls into the darkness:: Mouse! Where are youuuuu? Please let me know
where you are and if you're ever coming back! :-) Unfortunately, for the
moment, I have to declare Savant MIA... a pretty good trick considering
she's a hologram, and integrated into the Coro's systems. Maybe she's
hiding in the computer core somewhere. ;-)

See all of you on the 17th! :-)

 Promotions:
None this week, but check back next week! :)

Exchange of the Week: Why blue shirts live longer than "gold" ones... ;-)
...or was that why blue shirts live longer than red?
<LTEN_TPrax> *> ::running toward to TL:: +taps+ Dalton, There is someone in
Deflector Control. Several consoles exploded when Tal fired her weapon.
Please assist him. I'm need in Engineering. ::closes the channel::
<LJDR_Dalton> ::looks around at the Sick Bay crew:: Um ... you, and you.
Go see if anyone's actually there.
   <LJDR_Dalton> Nurse> Aren't you going, Doctor?
<LJDR_Dalton> ::scoffs:: Of course not! What if it's a trap?

 Sim Title: "Stormchasers", Part 3

The Coronado and her charges were trapped in the Dnoces system by starships
belonging to the Omega terrorist group. While Omega's motives are unknown,
it was clear enough that they intended to disrupt the test and possibly
attack Dr. Rollins' group -- possibly even steal the Sorceror technology.
Thanks to this technology, Coro and Rollins' group was able to escape
deeper into the system, protected from the severe ion and gravimetric
interference in the system. However, we couldn't wait in the system
forever -- eventually, the brown dwarf star would impact the system,
causing even more severe stellar effects!

Lt. Commander Tal and Lt. Daren, working together, devised a possible
solution: they elected to use the Coronado's deflector dish and the natural
interference in the system to disrupt the shields of the Omega vessels. By
drawing them in and feigning an attack with our Hornet light shuttles, we
hoped to lure them further into the system. There, the Hornets would feed
the resonating frequencies of the ship's shields to Commander Tal, who
would respond with a resonance burst from the main deflector dish. The
presumed result would be a disruption of the Omega vessel's shields -- one
long enough that it might provide a vulnerability to the weapons of the
heavier Spectre fighters and the Coronado herself.

Persiennes and the rest of Dr. Rollins' ships escorted us into position,
using the Sorceror technology for cover. The plan was more or less
successful -- the Hornets transmitted the proper data to the Coro, though
two of their number were lost in the feint. The resonant burst disrupted
the manta-shaped ships shields long enough for Coronado to hammer three of
them with quantum torpedoes, with the Spectres in support. The single
undamaged ship ran, but the three damaged ones seemed ready and willing to
fight to the death... until the Sorceror's dampening field interfered with
their main power systems and allowed Coronado to deal killing blows to two
of the ships. The final Omega ship, heavily damaged, ran from the system.

Coronado suffered significant damage herself, and this damage, combined
with our still-disabled slipstream drive, persuaded Captain Lora Kor to
divert the ship to a starbase for refitting and repairs.
