Notes from the Captain:
Unfortunately, this was the last sim aboard the U.S.S. Coronado for Lt.
Adam Barnes. :/ Barnes will be leaving us to pursue other duties aboard
the Enterprise, and I'm sure everyone joins me in wishing him luck over
there! :) Keep in touch, Barnes, and let us know how you're doing!
The long, long, LONG time observer, Masters, finally joined us this week,
in the position of Marine fighter pilot! :) Masters' character, 2Lt.
Thomas Wayne, will be leading Coro's second Spectre squadron as soon as it
is fully decided where they'll be berthed. ;)
::grins:: Mr. Dalton seems to have talked Commander Bentall into
reactivating his Starfleet commission... we'll see how he handles it...
Mouse, where are youuuuuu? Hallooooo! 8:) ;)
Remember, I'll be going on vacation starting the 27th of June and returning
July 15. As a result, I will miss two sims, the ones on July 3 and July
10. Alffred has agreed to run Coro on those days. :-)

Sim Title: "Stormchasers", Part 2
Coronado continued to monitor the experiments of Dr. Dorothy Rollins and
her team in the Dnoces system. Rollins believes that her team has
developed the technology to completely disperse an ion storm over a very
wide radius, and has constructed this technology into a small Yellowstone
class runabout, the Sorceror. Though the technology takes nearly the
entire interior volume of the Sorceror, the potential for gain is enormous.
If it works, nearly immediately, more than 75 trade routes currently
blocked by ion storm phenomenon could be opened, greatly reducing travel
time and risk to freighters. Later, the technology could be miniturized
such that any ship could carry it, ending the threat of ion storms forever.
For the initial test, Dr. Rollins proposed that the Sorceror and a small
freighter owned by her team be used. Sorceror would begin projecting the
wave field that would disperse the storm, then two ships would exit the
shield generated by the Seagull. Since neither Sorceror nor the freighter,
Marco Polo, possesses sufficient shielding to survive a force four ion
storm, it would be easy to tell if the test was successful. Rollins' plan
was implemented, and with Coronado watching and recording, the Sorceror
performed exactly as advertised, dispersing all ion storm activity within
five million kilometers of the runabout! The technology was successful!
Unfortunately, the celebration was cut short when three Omega ships arrived
in the system, apparently intent on disrupting the test. Unable to both
best the three-to-one odds and protect the civilians, Lora Kor ordered Dr.
Rollins and her team to leave the system. Instead however, the scientists
elected to proceed deeper into the system, trusting the Soceror's systems
to protect them. Since it was likely that the Omega ships would simply
wait outside the system for Rollins and her people to leave, Coro had
little choice but to follow them, after driving the Omega ships back in a
brief hit-and-run battle. Coro then requested reinforcements and continues
to provide escort for Rollins' team, herself protected by the Sorceror
technology. In the meantime, the crew is attempting to determine a way for
Coro and Rollins' team to escape without Coro's slipstream drive, still
inoperative after our most recent mission.
