Notes from the Captain:
Another historically low turnout... I hate August.
Hi everyone. :) Please please please, if you're not going to be present
for a sim, please let me know in advance. If nothing else, it allows me to
start the sim on time for those who ARE there. In addition, if you wish to
be dropped from the roster, please let me know that also. Having people
just fade away is depressing. I also end up holding your position open for
you for weeks, hoping you'll come back. At least, if you tell me you need
to go on LOA or wish to leave, I can open the position up for others.

Sim Title: "The Derelict", Part 2
Exploration of the derelict alien spacecraft continued this week, with the
Captain leading an exploration team aboard himself. After a brief period
while the Captain became acclimated to the new environment, his team, made
up of Commander Dejat and a pair of Lieutenant Daren's security people,
proceeded toward the engineering spaces at the rear of the vessel. Other
teams continued their own surveys of the relic.
Meanwhile, a series of odd occurances began to happen aboard the Coronado
herself. Several members of the ship's company reported jewelry being...
vandalized, for want of a better word. One example was typical: the owner
of a 100-year old wedding ring that had previously had a diamond in a
large center setting woke one morning to find the diamond itself missing.
The rest of the ring was undamaged. Reports of crystals of various types
turning up missing began to be reported from all over the ship. In
particular, an inspection of the Spectre fighters revealed that the
emitter crystals at the hearts of their pulse phasers were missing.
As time passed, more and more crystals began to disappear... finally, Lt.
Oswald reported from Engineering that the dilithium crystals at the heart
of Coro's power system were deteriorating! Calling yellow alert, Commander
Bentall recalled the Away teams. On the Captain's suggestion, the teams
returned to the ship using their suit jets and the large breach in the
alien ship's hull. Meanwhile, the crew struggled to determine what was
causing the crystal disappearances. Interestingly, the crystalline alien
jewelry seems completely unaffected.
That is our only clue at present, however. The situation aboard Coro is
swiftly becoming grave. Crystals are integral parts of our sensors,
computers, communications, and phasers. In addition, most of the control
panels and displays are made up of a crystalline sheeting material, as are
the windows on the outer hull. Without the computer, sensors, or control
of the ship, it is unlikely that we will be able to determine what is
going on, and help is hundreds of light-years away...
