Coronado Crew Update:
Our sims have been a little short-handed in terms of crew -- this is not
any fault of the simmers: you guys have generally been terrific about
telling me when you cannot attend! Thank you! However, I'm starting to
rethink my idea of limiting Coro's crew to 13 simmers plus the CO and XO.
With this number, it only takes four or five absenses (in addition to the
fact that there are normally two open slots) to make us really short-handed.
As a result, I'm going to be increasing the Coro's roster to 16, with the
hope that even if four people are missing and there are two slots open,
we've still got a pretty good size group. ;)

Sim Title: "Dead Reckoning", Part 3
Coronado is still trapped some 87 years in the future. Following the battle
with the Borg tactical vessel, the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701-H, continued
to tow Coro deeper and deeper into Federation space using their "sidestep"
drive. Because of the Borg's subspace weapons, standard warp drive and our
slipstream drive are both useless. Commander Lora met with the Enterprise's
commander, Captain Walker Kile, in the former's Ready Room while the senior
officers and crew discussed their plight. Most of the senior officers
agreed that there were a number of ways for Coro to return to her own time,
IF we could make a jump to warp drive. Without warp drive, however, our
situation seems hopeless.
After about a week of cruising at sidestep, Enterprise slowed, bringing Coro
to a stop with her. Our destination was an awe-inspiring sight: nearly
1,000 Federation starships of every type and description, most of types not
recognizable but eerily familiar. The starships were clustered around three
full-size Federation starbases. At the center of the formation: an enormous
neutronium ring structure more than 100,000 kilometers in diameter! Lora
calmly revealed that Captain Kile had told him that in 2387, the Killers are
not only a recognized species called the Traxati, but a Federation member!
The ring is actually a Traxati "hypergate" -- an artificial wormhole linking
the last systems of the Federation with a distant point in the galaxy.
Within a limited range of the ring, full warp capability was reestablished,
and Commander Lora further revealed the Federation's plan. If the Coronado
cannot prevent the Borg from assimilating the subspace weapon technology
from species 16309, the Federation plans to migrate en masse through the
Traxati hypergate into a hopefully unexplored portion of the Gamma quadrant.
Coro's crew has been asked to pass through the gate and investigate what lies
on the other side. Once our scouting mission is complete, we can use the
fact that we are outside of the range of the Borg subspace disruption to get
home, presumably using warp drive to slingshot around a star.
