Sim Title: "Dead Reckoning", Part 2

Coronado has found herself some 87 years in the future. The date is April
25, 2487. After the shock wore off, the U.S.S. Enterprise of this time, the
NCC-1701-H sent us a new set of communications protocols and informed us
that Coro had been listed as missing in action for all of the intervening
time. Apparently, in addition to currents that allow extremely fast travel,
we have found a current that provided extremely SLOW travel... Once the new
communications protocols were installed, we were able to understand the
transmissions of Federation time beacons and news services.

It didn't take us long to realize that things are not all well and good in
the future: the Federation is composed of only 22 systems, not 160+, and is
spread out across only 700 light-years instead of more than 10 times that.
The reason is apparently a new Borg weapon which destroys subspace in a wide
radius. By detonating these weapons in Federation space, the Borg were able
to isolate the more remote sections of the Federation and assimilate them.
The Federation responded by developing "sidestep" propulsion technology,
which is not nearly as efficient as warp drive.

The battle for Federation space is apparently still going on, because soon
after our arrival, we and Enterprise were intercepted by a Borg tactical
ship. Coronado was helpful in destroying the sphere by remote-piloting one
of our shuttlecraft into a ramming course with it. However, our own weapons
were almost useless against the sphere, and mere pinpricks when compared to
the 2487-era Enterprise's firepower, which was terrifying. Even with these
new weapons, though, Captain Kile made it clear that the Federation is
doomed. He is desperate to send Coronado back to her own time with
information on how the Borg acquired their subspace weaponry in the hopes
that we can prevent them from finding it.
