Coronado Crew Update:
Lt. Commander Velorna Tal has been forced to take an extended Leave of
Absense. Tinky has accepted a position in the Residence Hall Association
at his university that requires him to attend Monday night meetings. I'm
sure I join all the Coro officers in wishing him the best of luck!
New Crew Members:
Everyone please join me in welcoming two new members to our ranks! 2nd
Lt. Kat McClellan joined us Monday as the new Squadron Leader for the
Thunderbirds fighter squadron, and Lt. Commander Donal tr'Ragarok will be
joining us this coming Monday as our new Chief Science Officer! Please
welcome these officers aboard as you see them. :)

Sim Title: "Dead Reckoning", Part 1
Ka'tek vestai-Kharas reached Qo'noS on time, with the assistance of the
Coronado. He is now the newest member of the Klingon High Council. With
this duty accomplished, Coro returned to Federation space on the orders of
Vice Admiral Brian Aldur. We were to rendezvous with the U.S.S. Swiftsure
and take aboard a Lt. Commander Reckoning, a theoretical propulsion expert.
In addition, several new officers and crew came over from the Swiftsure.
Commander Reckoning is one of the experts that originally designed Coro's
slipstream drive, and she had a fascinating theory about it. Reckoning
theorizes that there are "currents" in the slipstream realm that a ship
travelling there can catch. This would allow the starship moving at
slipstream to move even faster than normal, crossing even greater
distances in a shorter time. Our orders were, with Commander Reckoning's
help, to find and investigate one or more of these currents.
Coronado entered the slipstream conduit, and all seemed to proceed normally.
Friendly and enthusiastic, Reckoning had virtually all of the science and
engineering team busy scanning for one of her currents. Eventually, the
ship located one and matched its course. While we detected a significant
phase variance in the current, it did not seem dangerous. On Reckoning's
recommendation, we deployed probes into the current.
Almost simultaneously, several things happened. First, the Coro was hit by
the phase variance of the current and was forced to drop out of slipstream.
We managed to do this in a controlled manner, returning to normal space.
Meanwhile, Commander Reckoning begin complaining about her physical
condition, eventually collapsing in Engineering. While she was rushed to
Sickbay, another ship appeared to drop out of warp near the Coronado: the
U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701...-H!
