Coronado Crew Update:
Ensign T'Prax has joined the crew as the new Assistant Tactical Officer,
reporting to Lt. Drexler. Welcome aboard, T'Prax!
There was an *important* announcement made during this week's sim! If
you missed it, you really need to either show up for next Monday's sim or
catch Jester off-line and he'll share the details with you. The
announcement will also be posted in next week's sim report.

Sim Title: "Caravan to Antares", Part 1
While the Coronado is still trapped 87 years in the future, we are finally
beginning to see some hope that we will soon be able to return home. In the
future, the Federation has been decimated by the Borg: fewer than 25 systems
remain under Federation control, and more systems are being assimilated
every year. The Borg have used some kind of subspace weaponry to destroy
the ability to use warp drive and subspace communications inside Federation
space, thereby isolating Federation-controlled systems and making conquering
these systems much easier. In 2486, it is projected that the Federation has
less than a decade before being completely overrun.
As a result, the Federation has elected to evacuate all of its remaining
systems and send their population through a Traxati "hypergate." The gate
links the last parts of Federation space with a distant point in Gamma
quadrant. Hopefully, once established there, some 1,000 Federation vessels
will be able to give our races a new start and allow all the rest to be
evacuated in the time remaining. While warp drive won't work on "this" side
of the gate, it works properly on the far side. As a result, Coro was asked
to scout the far side of the gate for uninhabited, potential colony sites.
Reaching the far side of the gate, we investigated two systems containing
class M worlds. The first had been scourged with some sort of bacteria --
later determined to be a genetically engineered bioweapon. The second
planet had been bombarded from orbit. Both of these catastrophes are
centuries old, and were extremely troubling to say the least. We are
continuing with the hope that we will soon find a planet that can be used as
a staging area for the Federation evacuation.
